Hello, i needed to change the battery from an r reg xsara over the week and found when i had connected it all back up the radio needed a Code to start the radio working again. Anyways i was wondering if anyone could help me out? Theres a guy on ebay selling radio codes should you give him you vin numbers. im willing to do this but hes not got back in contact in over 48 hours- so hes obviously not the greatest of help.

The codes not in the manual and the car is not second hand.

Any ideas?

How about tking the Vin number to your local Citroen dealer and ask them if they can help.....i know they can, its just a case of how much they will charge.

yeah i rang up and asked but they quote me 70£ which is ridiculous-it has happened before when the car was bought from the previous owner. This is such a stupid system. Nobody would ever brake into the car to steel the radio! i cant help but think its there to pull a fast one!

Depending on the age of your car, you should be able to drop a non Citroen aftermarket radio straight in, with the relevant fitting plates for the fascia and the wiring loom and aerial adapters. No code will be needed for an aftermarket radio unless it has the facility built into it as an anti-theft device.

Later cars (post facelift) have a gizmo in them known as the BSI, which I think means Basic Systems interface, and in these cars the (Citroen OEM) radio needs to be paired to the vehicle with the vin number before it will work in THAT vehicle. It will then not work in any other unless re-programmed. Anyone fitting an aftermarket radio to a newer vehicle may need help from a dealers to get it working.

Cheers. Hope this helps. ;)
