Guest Andrea Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 stuck in traffic last night behind an accident-went to roll the window up a bit more, only to find it grinding to a halt only 1/4 up. could hear the 'motor' of the window slowing and stopping, and the window appeared to drag the rubber (or whatever it is) on the window seals. called the dealer right away and had to leave the car back-have a c3 in its place for now. i managed to get the window back up by mucking about with it, putting it down then up quick after, it eventually got back up, but initially with about a cm of a gap between the window and the frame. anyone had this happen before (i'll put money on it!)? is it just a teething problem from a new car, or just poor build? apparently its covered under warranty, no quibling about it with the dealer then. will hear back from them today, hope i can get it sorted for the weekend! ColinC1 Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Some other posts have mentioned the window rubbing excessivly in the runner causing the motor to stop, but it is not that common. The one problem I had with mine (fitted aftermarket electric window motors two years ago), is that last week my passenger who was using her electric window, warned me that the horizontal seal (black plastic/rubber) at elbow height, on top of the metal part of the door had come loose and was ready to fall into the cabin. I stopped the car, got her to put the window right down, lined up the horizontal seal and banged it down with my fist, and as its only a compresion fit, it clicked back into place, as good as new. I assume the window had rubbed the rubber a lot over the two years, so eventually it had pulled the seal out of its compresion fit. Weird ! Quote
TurboSlag Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 I've never had a problem on either of my 107s, but I periodically clean the runners and give it a spray of dry lube, maybe 2 or 3 times a year. Quote
Guest Andrea Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 got the car back on fri afternoon, all sorted. nothing wrong with it apparently???? the technician asked if i had been leaning my elbow on the frame with the window down, as the window operates on a central pivot which might have been knocked??! :) er, no, i wasnt! i know plenty of people who do that and that's never happened them! my brother-a taxi driver-would know that too! so there you go.... :( Quote
ColinC1 Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Glad your sorted in a way  I would also agree with turboslag, to keep lubricating the runners occasionally ;) Quote
