Guest citroenc4 Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 I have owned my C4 for a year now, it is 2 years old from new. It has done 11,000 miles. In the past 2 months I have noticed that only when taking off in 1st gear the car judders. This does not happen if I take off in 2nd gear. It does not happen all the time - so I am unsure whether it could be a fault with the clutch or maybe something to do with the petrol I am putting in it. Problem happens 3 times a month and once it starts on a journey it continues all of that drive. Why is this? Any ideas? The Citroen garage are saying they can look at the clutch but it will mean taking the car apart which I will have to pay for even though it's under warranty. The only way there would be no charge would be if there was a fault covered by warranty. So if they take it apart and find nothing, I will then be billed for getting it put back together again. Also I was bumped into (from the back) recently at traffic lights. Appears there is no visual damage as the other car was only going a few mph. Should I still have a garage check the car for damage or take it that as there is nothing externally my car will be fine. The other car only damaged (cracked) its reg plate. Quote
Johndouglas Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 I think your dealer is being lazy. You have a warranty; you have a fault. It's the dealers job to look into it and correct it. A juddering clutch could be any of several problems. Oil or grease could have leaked onto the linings. A spring could have fractured in the pressure plate. An engine or gearbox mounting could be faulty. Maybe you should try another dealer. Quote
