Guest chrisbee Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Hi, my 2001 2.2 estate (100,00 miles) has suddenly developed a loud metalic knock when driving on normal road surfaces. I've had a quick look underneath and can't see an obvious problem. I suspect it may be the suspension bearings. Would they fail suddenly without warning (there's been no creaking or groaning) and how can I check them? All help wellcome! Quote
Johndouglas Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Raise the suspension. Stand a way from the back of the car and look at the wheels. If the tops of the wheels are sloping inwards /------\ then you need to replace the arm bearings. Quote
