Guest leec5auto110 Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 hello, youll find the problem with the brake squeal will return, the cure for this is to completely remove back calipers and clean off corrosion behind where the caliper is mounted to the suspension arm, copperslip both surfaces(back of caliper and suspension arm)re-fit caliper new back pads and yes you can copperslip backs of pads butt there should be shims in your new pads box which go between back of pads& piston this will completely cure your squeal for good!!!the corrosion takes place because the caliper is aluminium & the suspension arm is steel (this causes a chemical reaction) this forces the caliper out of line & wears pads on an angle causing them to only touch on one edge CITROEN UK will not tell you this information,i only found this information out from an independant citroen garage, its a very common problem with c5 s,you will need to use a windy gun with 16mm inpact socket to remove caliper bolts as they will be full of nut lock all the way down shafts the bolts are about 160mm long!!!good luck or get a good independant to do the job,Lee <_< Quote
