Guest gs fan Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Went on internet and got a quote for stepper @ £45 . Called the local breaker today and he's got a complete unit and wants £46 . It's exactly the same as mine , the car has done 59.000 , mine has done 84.000. Now what I'm thinking is to buy the complete unit seems better value ,and if I could swap them over I'd at least have the good stepper on the rev counter from my unit ,and I could always send mine away for a refurb' at that cluster repair place in Norfolk that has been recomended in this forum. What I'd like to know is if I get the complete unit and just plug it in what happens with the mileage? I read that the mileometer will go to the highest figure , so that would be ok as the one I'd be getting has a lower mileage as mine , just wondered if you knew the score on this Thanks Jack. Quote
coastline taxis Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 what youve said is exactly what will happen as it always displays the higher milage Quote

coastline taxis Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 bear in mind if the one you get from the scrappy has 150k on the clock then decide to put your old clocks back in then they to will also display 150k as the ecu will always display the highest milage it gets exposed to. Quote

If I did connect it up and it was a high mileage I'd be screwed ...I'll check again with them when I pick it up.Have you ever used "cluster repair" in norfolk ?? Cant remember the name of the post ,but someone on this forum recommended them Quote
coastline taxis Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 No never used them as to be honest the only faults weve had are the stepper motors Quote
