hobbsy Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Had a problem recently with my breakdown service provider which refused to rescue me on the M25 when I had a puncture and found I could not undo my locking wheelnuts due to a twisted rod on the key part which happened while working on the punctured wheel. They stated that locking wheelnuts were not in there policy and they would not rescue me. They said I should have read the small print about what was covered! I was left to negociate a price with an independant breakdown garage to collect me and drop me off at a garage. Antbody else heard of this problem before? Quote
paul.h Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Who is the breakdown sevice provider - saves us all looking for the small print ?What caused the locking key to break, were the wheel bolts too tight ? Quote

All I can say is - Citroen locking wheel bolts are a pile of cr*p- soft metal , prone to seizing. Similar thing happened on my old C5 - broke both keys trying to get the wheel off and ended up having the puncture fixed externally ( plastic rod hammered into the hole - and it worked!) Garage got it off with brute force in the end. Scrapped all the lockers and replaced with standard bolts. I've already scrapped the locking bolts on my new C5 (2008 hatch) and replaced with Citroen standard bolts. If someone really wants to nick your wheels, they can do it with one of those "grab anything" sockets that tighten rods around the bolt. Quote

Hi, I had the same problem with key for lockers, i've done the same as previous writer and scrapped lockers and fitted standard wheel bolts all round Quote
hobbsy Posted August 16, 2009 Author Posted August 16, 2009 Who is the breakdown sevice provider - saves us all looking for the small print ?What caused the locking key to break, were the wheel bolts too tight ? The name of the breakdown company was First Call GB Ltd. I understood that it was impossible for them to fix it at the road side. But to refuse to take me to the nearest garage was just to much!! The wheel bolt was not to tight. It was just that one of the rods which formed part of the key twisted out of shape while I was putting pressure on the bolt to undo it. Taught me a lesson next time I join a breakdown service provider. Quote
