Guest c5vtr Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Morning all ..this little problem has been progressing over the last months.. initially the drivers door wouldn't unlock when the rest of the car would. If i then locked and unlocked the car again, always via the fob, then it would open no problem. I then got into the habit of simply using the actual key (how 20th century lol) to open the drivers door. In the last few weeks the door began to open as its supposed to with the rest of the car however i did hear more than once a bzzt sound from the drivers door as it unlocked only. As of yesterday the drivers door won't lock and opens easily even with the rest of the door locked...odd though that it doesn't immediately trigger the alarm, though i guess the sensors are in the cabin. The only variable to this is the weather, its been warm and dry but now in the last 48hrs the temp has dropped alot here in Northern Ireland, my train of thought initially been around lubrication. Anyone recognise the progression of events here or similar issues with central locking? Cheers Quote
paul.h Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 May be a loose or corroded electrical connection inside the door or may be the solenoid (if there is one) in the door working the switch needs replacing ? Quote
techbod Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 check for cracks in the wiring in the door jam where they go from the car into the door its possible there is a short there, the solenoid is in the drivers door behind the door card and if that goes south the door wont lock via the remote, http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=h...=/images%3Fq%3d Central%2Blocking%2Bsolenoid%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26um%3D1 that's the type of solenoid your looking for and its close to the locking mechanism ( damp weather tends to seize them up ), you heard a buzz so that probably is a short in the wiring or the solenoid failing. Johndouglas Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 My C5 did something similar a few weeks ago. It wouldn't unlock on the plip. So I tried this - and it worked:-Turn on the ignition.Remove battery positive lead.Turn off ignition.Touch positive lead to earth. Reconnect positive lead and switch on ignition for a couple of minutes.Start the engine and leave to tick over for a while. You'll need to reset your clock. Quote

paul.h Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 The door card is just the door panel on the inside of the car. Quote
