Guest digitalinkjetman Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Some people seem to think that it affects what the climate control tries to do with regard to controlling the inside temp of the car when set to "Auto". Yes I was trying to work out why it was going hot & cold all the time last night, thought I would look into it as its the most obvious thing at the moment. I will look at it tomorrow and let you know if its possible to fix. Quote
Guest digitalinkjetman Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Apparently were having summer weather here in the UK its 24 deg C, so the C5 tells me!! I have sprayed the sensor and into the housing with WD40 in a vain attempt to rectify it. The wires inside the door are all okay, its in the mirror where the problem is. Going to have to remove the housing on the mirror! Quote
paul.h Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 You can remove the mirror glass without having to remove the housing and this may give access to the temperature probe. The French manual I have shows using a screwdriver in the bottom corner away from the car door to access a clip on the back of the glass. The French is 'degrafer l'epingle, a l'aide d'un tournevis fin'. This translates as something like unhook the clip with the end of a screwdriver. The picture shows a round clip on the back of the glass with 2 ends at the corner. I do not have the Haynes book with me to see what it says. Quote
Guest digitalinkjetman Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 I have it out! Its a small molded unit with two wires going in to it. I have cut the plastic away to the pcb and there is water in it. Its now on the heater warming up and drying out. Can I add photos here? Or do I have to link to them elswhere?? Quote

Guest muskarox79 Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Hello Digitalinkjetman! I think i am having the same problem as you do/did? My outside air temp sensor is showing that im somewhere in africa? It started off by beeing random, that sometimes, when it was showing the right outside temp, the AC would work as it should, and other times it would show anywhere between 20-40 degrees when it was actually freezing outside, the AC would not work on auto. I could still use the cooling/heating system though. When i put it manually on anywhere between 16-27 degrees it would blow cold air, and if i put it on maximum 28 it would blow maximum heat. Something i can live with, but anoying that you have to keep switching from 27 to 28 to keep the internal car on a normal temp. Is that not the same problem as you had? Im pretty sure that if i made the outside temp sensor work normally again, it would fix my AC to work normal. Was i supposed to remove the passenger mirror to clean something in there? Did you have some pictures you could show me perhaps? :) Quote
