andyl56 Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Hellolong story so bear with me, has anyone tried to change the headlamp bulbs on a c5 ?, nigh on impossible unless you have a hand the size of a babys, anyway today i changed the passenger side headlamp, difficult but do-able if you take the battery out, anyway after i did this i went out in the c5, then i had the low fuel beep and warning messgae come up, usually this comes on with about 49 miles left and i have got it down to 20 miles left before i have refilled, but after tens mins of driving a message flashed up "anti air pollution fault" then the car pomptly died on me, couldnt get it started so got the aa out, in the end after half an hour of diagnostic testing he put some diesel in and the bally thing started !!!, he reckons the computer is wrongly telling me i have 49 miles worth of fuel left when i have none !, has anyone else had this problem or , could the disconnecting of the battery throw a massive spanner in the computer system ? and what is an "anti air pollution fault ??" coastline taxis Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 When youve disconected the battery you have done a reset of the bsi unit ( buisness systems interface) and certain procedures need to be followed to do it properly then the car needs to go for a drive drive so the adaptive driving can do its thing. Do a search for bsi reset and follow what it says and you should be ok. Also by letting your tank get that low your not doing yourself any favours as the intank pump is lubricated by the diesel so no diesel means no lubrication and youl do your pump in. never go under a quarter tank Quote
Randombloke Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 I would endorse Coastline's advice. When the tank is over 1/4 the distance forecast is usually reliable. I do go slightly under the 1/4 of a tank BUT the distance left on fuel is notoriously unreliable, usually on my C5 it leaves me in the lurch by going completely blank when there is about 30 miles left on the forecast. I have had a nervous time when running this low so I no longer do it. 1/4 tank = fill up. Also with the £59 limit at most pumps using cards, if you go much lower you can't fill your tank. Never put less than 10 litres into the tank as the fuel distance forecast will ignore it, as will the Eolys fluid adder thingy. Anti Pollution fault means there is either a problem in the Particulate Filter System (known to Peugeot Citroen as FAP or DPF) or in the various sensors or controllers (Swirl Control, EGR, etc.) that look after engine emissions. There is a battery disconnection procedure posted on this forum by either kfk or iannez, they are Citroen techs so please find and use use it. It may be that kfk has pinned it at the top of one of these forums, if not please can we consider doing so? Quote
coastline taxis Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Think that the pollution fault will be due to running out of diesel also very suprised it didnt throw up a low rail pressure fault. Running out of fuel dosnt help the high pressure pump either as that is also lubricated by diesel aswell and that one is expensive Quote
