Guest gs fan Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 The C5 is generally rattle and squeak free and a quiet runner. The only annoying thing on mine has been the creaking sound from the front windows , not when they're being used but when going over ruts /uneven surfaces ..like most town streets. The odd thing is that they'd be dead quite during dry weather , then a shower of rain and back to the annoying creaking sound . I've seen this problem mentioned in many articles re'the C5 . I tried lots of things to stop the creaking but no joy till I sprayed the area where the window seals ,and the area where the door seals with Turtle Wax , Wax it Wet, brilliant !!! total silence !!!Just open the window spray the seal area and rub off excess , then spray all over the area that seals the door and enjoy a creak free ride Quote
dangafo Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Hi. Can I ask you some questions now that it's been a while since you posted? 1) How durable has this solution been?2) I live in NZ and was trying to identify the product you are referring to. I couldn't see 'Wax it Wet', but I saw '1-Step Wax & Dry'. Would that one be ok? The list of Turtle Wax products in Australasia can be found here: http://www.turtlewax.com.au/3) From what I understood you opened the window and sprayed the window 'frame' so to speak, and also the door seal?4) Has anyone else found other solutions or products? Many thanks from downunder :D Quote

Many thanks from downunder :DIts great I do it once a month . I looked at the NZ Turtle Wax site and I'm guessing that 1 step Wax and Dry might be the nearest thing to our Wax it wet . Wax it wet looks like water and has a faint smell of parafin . Hope this helps with the creaking windows !! Quote
dangafo Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 Brilliant result! I only did the door seal and got rid of 95% of the noise. No mess and only 15 bucks! Quote

One of my mates swears by a little smear of Waxoil along the edge of the window , reckons that this keeps them quiter longer. Quote
