Guest ThomWilhelm Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 Just wondering if anyone has any ideas about a problem I am currently having with my Citroen Xsara (1997, 1.4). I had some other problems with the car cutting out at idle which have been fixed by a local mechanic (turned out to the be the mapping sensor and wiring). The last remaining problem is that when I am going along and then apply the brakes and put the clutch in to come to a stop, the revs drop VERY quickly to around 400-500 before quickly going back up to 900 which is the cars usual idle revs. This seems to happen once in every 10/20 times I come to a stop, and it seems to happen only when I am travelling downhill. Otherwise the revs will drop in a very normal controlled way, so the problem is intermittent. Sometimes when the revs drop like this the car cuts out so I have to quickly restart. Yesterday I cleaned the IAC valve but it still has the same problem. Any ideas? Quote
Rupert B Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Did you get this sorted out ? I have had a similar problem, much more intermittent than you. I THINK i've fixed it by bleeding my fuel filter. See my blog entry. "Think" because it has actually gone wrong ONCE since doing it, but it was every other day before. I think I may need to put a new filter in. Or of course it may not be the fix at all and its just coincidence ! have a look at my INtermittent Cutting Out And No Accelerator Response Problems Rupert Quote
