New Clutch

hi all

 

just been told my clutch is about to fail, anyone got any experience on this subject?

there is a burning smell when i stop the car and the biting point is really high.

my neighbour says the burning smell is my clutch?(he is a mechanic, although i prefer not to use him, to close and friendly)

 

any info on:

what price should i expect to pay

anyone know of a good place to get it done?

 

i live in the south manchester area.

Have the engine at fast tickover, take first gear and gently raise the clutch pedal. There should be a tendancy to stall. If there isn't, the clutch is on its way. For a LUK clutch kit you're looking at £160 or so. For the DMF add another £300. Then there's about 7hours labour on top.
