Hi Citroen fans,my mechanic reckons that i should change the water pump when i have my cam belt changed. Is this the general rule or just a bit more money making.

Hi and welcome

The answer is yes to changing the water pump at the same time as changing the cambelt. As with my own C5 the cambelt was changed befor I purchased the car, The head gasket went and after fitting a recon head I checked the water pump and found no vains on it thus causing the head gasket to go.

A water pump adds around 30quid+ to the total job. To have to change the pump in 6-12 months time will be like doing the cambelt job all over again.
