rickard Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005
My Webpage I have a 2004 C5 HDI Wagon with Automatic Transmission. At the start of each day (when the car is cold) the transmission 'misses' between 1st & 2nd gear. After the intiail 'miss', the car finds 1st gear again, and then shifts into 2nd & 3rd ect ect. The Transmission then functions properly and the problem then is not apparent until the start of the next day. Does anyone else experience this problem or is it unique to my car? It is a problem that I can live with, but when I decide to sell the car, any prospective purchaser may think the Auto Transmission has a fault. Any comments would be appreciated. Other than this minor problem, the car is great and has been very reliable. Quote
safari Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 Try putting it into snow mode in this cold weather - I find mine is much smoother - The Auto Box is ZF I believe and so should be very reliable Quote

Brevelay Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Hello My last C5 2001 2.0HDI estate Auto had the same problem, It first started at about 65000 miles and continued on and off until 80000 when it happened most days. When the dealer checked it out at first they found no fault, when they checked it at 80000 they said it needed a new box £2000.00 of the lease companies money. However after about a further 20000 miles the problem started again, I took the car back as the box was under warranty and they replaced and electronic unit on the side of the box and said Citroen had discovered a problem with this part and had changed the make! and that was probably all that was wrong with my old box. The part was approx 200.00 Quote
stephen.fieldsend Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Hi , I have the 2.0lt Petrol saloon . I had a similar problem with my auto trans when cold but also used to register as a different gear selected on the display. i took it to main dealer who rebooted the computer to try a fix but no joy. then took it to my auto trans repair man who found the selector cable was being pinched too tightly by the brackets in the transmission tunnel. he fitted a new cable and it is a dream now.
