Surprise! Not a single pulley gave away the game, forcing me to glibly (i) replace the belt and (ii) dump and refill my steering box with new fluid, thinking that I've found  the solution. Not a chance....the chirp, chirp has now dogged me for six weeks and I'm losing my cool with the fact that I cannot isolate where the chirping is coming from.

There are no filings around any of the pulleys, no smoke billowing from over heating bearings; 'anti squeal' belt spray does nothing to relieve the chirping and to add insult to injury .... I about to nervously embark on a 600km trip in 10 days time. 

Another clue: when I turn the steering rack left or right - whether stationery or on the move -  the chirping sound increases in volume - how embarrassing in public parking lots! 

Chaps, I've hit a brick wall as to my next move. HELP...please!

I have just had a new washer pump fitted as the old one didn't work from the time I collected the car. When the new one was installed it worked when I washed the windscreen. I left the garage and later that day washed the rear window. When I tried to wash the windscreen again the washer would not return to the front and will now only wash the rear window whether I pull the stalk or press the end of the stalk.

I would appreciate any ideas please.

Recently bought a 2013 C5 2.0HDI Tourer automatic and loving its comfy ride and relaxed nature.

Haven't owned a Citroen or other French car for many years, but previous gems include Simca 1000 and 1204 (with two twin choke downdraught Webers!), Citroen Ami 8, and my mother owned a GS with 3 speed gearbox and centrifugal clutch.

It seems like my C5 has some idiosyncrasies that I'm finding frustrating, and I'm looking forward to asking advice about these 'features' from the knowledgeable members of this forum.

We have owned a BX and then a zantia from 2000 till a few weeks ago when the cam belt broke at 75000 : (

My fault for not changing it, such a shame as the car had been garaged all those years.

I could not get it home to our garage and £900 was more that I was going to pay.

Found a C5 2003 1997 petrol automatic estate 10 miles away in Helston for £200, nice leather seats.

Bought as a temporary car as it is not so easy in Cornwall to find one.

It has a crease in the passenger side front and rear doors, no too bad

Plus filler in the strip between the rear door and the rear wheel.

Slight rattle in the cartelistic converter not much been there a while looking at the service notes.

Auto gear box periodically goes into service mode, apparently it can go to Plymouth and back 150 miles or a couple of miles.

Stopping and a restart clears it, I was told of all these faults when I purchased it : )

There is a clonk not too bad but there over bumps, from reading I think is the drop links ?

I may try an oil change on the auto box, but boy that stuff it pricy any inexspensive substitutes ?

Have had a look round for a drivers instruction book to find out what all the knobs do but no luck so far ?

Nice car though, has been serviced every year lots of money spent on it.

I purchased a lexia from Easy Diagnostics a little while ago but I am having some difficulty finding

the menu that leads to the information about when the exhaust last generated and when the last time the

additive tank was filled. :huh:

I used to have a Citroen Xantia 1.9TD an AX 1.1 a BX 1.4 and a BX 1.9TD.

I now have my C5 and for fun in the warmer weather my 1987 Citroen 2cv which I shall be selling soon as its not getting the use it really needs.

I am fairly mechanically minded and my hobby seems to reflect that in Radio Control sailing yachts.

I'm a proud Xsara VTS 2.0 "gold" owner since the year 2003 and I really, really love my car. But as it is, he's getting older and older and soon we're moving for professional reason from Switzerland to England (Milton Keynes). I would never ever sell my Xsara and he will be in a dry garage for the next years until I have the money to completely restore it.

But now I need a new car in UK and it should be a petrol C4 Coupé, VTS or VTR I have no clue about it. :unsure:  If someone here has a C4 Coupé for sale or knows someone who has a C4 for sale or will just help me a bit I would be glad for every message  ;)

Best fun you could have in my time.....and a great car for long distance driving.

Then started to get into the (BLEEP) cars. (far east)

Just bought a C4 from 2005 for half nothing.

Reason for that is there are a few problems with it.

But she is a beauty, no scratches, 1st owner, only 260.000 km on it.

Drives like a baby and cornering is magic....

Just retro fitted folding mirrors to my c3 vtr.

Everything works, heated mirror, mirror adjust but can't get the fold back bit sorted.

Anyone done this, and anyone got any ideas to help..

I had a Xantia several years ago, and apart from groaning noises from the suspension it was a reliable comfortable car.

I`m looking at buying a 2010 C5 Tourer, and have been reading the threads about them. Very helpful. I`ve had a quick test drive and was impressed with the car, having done some swatting up I`ll take a closer look ASAP. 

new member here, just jumped  from a 200,000 mile 406  to  this 2007  C5 HDI16 manual  114,000 miles

So far so good, 200 miles after oil and filter change,  everything still seems to be in order except..

  'wet'  rear suspension gaiter

 injector #3   surrounded by coke  but no extra mess on the cover as yet, i.e. it has leaked  in the past..

 If left for  days the rear suspension dropped,  drive is on a slope,  in fact it looks like   its  self levelling.

I am having an undertray fitted as (a) its missing and (b)  I drive over farm tracks , and ©  the 406 had one.

Any comments or advice ?

Seems to be everything on net about 2.2 diesel engine but nothjing about 16v petrol.

With the diesel engine valves parallel to piston so breaks rockers aparently I am assuming petrol engine probably more damage and probably engine rebuild, about to remove head any advise would be helpful. Possible damage wise etc.
