Dan Gleebitz Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Perhaps if we moved back to unheated prisons, with a bare room and only a blanket to sleep on the floor with, plus one reasonable meal a day our prisons might not be full to capacity. Perhaps if we put away dangerous prisoners and stopped sending Grannies who refuse to pay their Council Tax our over crowded jails might be emptier ..... also, deport immediately instead of imprisoning whilst awaiting deportation .... also, why was a murderer taken shopping in Cambridge last week, into a shopping mall without hand cuffs and he does a bunk ..... :( Quote
Lancelot Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 .... also, why was a murderer taken shopping in Cambridge last week, into a shopping mall without hand cuffs and he does a bunk ..... :( We now have two prisoners who have done a bunk in similar circumstance the Government has addmitted! Our prison service must be a laughing stock throughout the world. Could you imagine that happening in the U.S or a Third World prison? Quote
Babbage Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 (edited) Prisoners are always 'doing one', HMP Kirkham, up the road from us, loses about 19 inmates a month. IIRC, the websites for Her Majes holiday camps publish abscond figures. Cat D open prisons are usually the worse, so if you got one nearby, be careful  Most offenders end up in Cat Ds towards the end of their sentences, murderers, robbers, rapists the lot. One guy who did one from Kirkham, had done 17 years in various HM Hotels , was in Kirkam 18 days and did one :o Shopping trips, home visits etc are all part of re-introducing offenders into society. Civil liberties, do-gooders, PC brigade strike again!! Pat Edited October 17, 2006 by Babbage Quote
rikochet Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 (edited) How can a teacher cover her face (especially her mouth when teaching) Surely facial expression and the shapes your lips make are an important part of teaching kids new words etc?Quite frankly as a child I'd find it a bit scary a teacher dressed like this? Actually Joe, you're quite right. In addition, there is a relatively new disability act for Education - SENDA (Special Educational Needs and Disability Act) which would prevent any teacher covering their face as this could prevent a hearing impaired pupil/student who lip reads being able to learn properly. It would also be the case for a class of "able-bodied" pupils with a teacher who covers their face. Anyone that felt disadvantaged in their learning experience e.g. not being able to understand effectively because there were communication issues because of the covered face of the teacher. If this wasn't done the educational establishment/authority could be sued. I saw the veiled teacher the other day on GMTV and I found it difficult to understand her because I could see her face, expressions etc..... Cheers Rik Edited October 18, 2006 by rikochet Quote
iamian Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 (edited) I wasn't going to add to this until I saw something in Oldham on Tuesday evening. A person (I couldn't say whether woman, muslim or otherwise) driving a Corsa in what I believe is called a Burqa. (I may have got this wrong but from what I could see a gauze covered her/his eyes and the rest of the head was swathed in black cloth.) He/she had a couple of kids in the back. I couldn't say whether or not they had seat belts on but neither appeared to be sitting fully back in their seats. The good thing to note, perhaps, was that he/she was driving painfully slowly and the windows in front on the B pillars were not heavily tinted. So it wouldn't be that factor which stopped any motorcyclist making eye contact. One wonders: 1. How much peripheral vision can someone have wearing such clothing?2. Did he / she wear this attire when taking a test?3. I'm surprised to find someone wearing such Byzantine headwear would espouse driving a car?4. Suppose this person were stopped by plod what does his/her driving licence show? How could they check?5. If clocked on a Truvelo (unlikely!) how could one verify the identity of the driver? Ho hum. stimulator Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 (edited) :torch: Having lived in both Kuwait and Saudi Arabia it amazes me how 'strict' the self imposed cover up law is applied here. No where in the Koran does it say that they MUST wear it. What have they got to hide anyway? The person who sued apparently didn't wear it at the job interview which was conducted by a MAN, now suddenly she is covered and feels she should not be working with men. BUT the biggest question is why is a person who holds such radical views working in a Church of England school. personally I see it as a get rich trip that her and her husbanded dreamt up which has backed fired on her. It should be banned as in other countries Muslim Turkey included. As for driving with it ON at least in Saudi women were not allowed to drive at all. They will come unstuck when they apply for the new chip and pin passport which doesn't allow even a piece of hair on the face in the photo. In jeddah they were always referred too as Guiness Bottles :torch: and the Men were called Milk Bottles being in white. Long live the Crusades. Edited October 22, 2006 by stimulator Quote
Grandad Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 This is what some Muslims think of women. I think that now they have reached 'critical mass' in the power stakes they feel that they can now voice their real opinions of others. "If you take out uncovered meat and place it outside... and the cats come and eat it... whose fault is it, the cats' or the uncovered meat?" he asked. The uncovered meat is the problem, he went on to say. "If she was in her room, in her home, in her hijab, no problem would have occurred," he added. Sheikh Hilali also condemned women who swayed suggestively and wore make-up, implying they attracted sexual assault. "Then you get a judge without mercy... and gives you 65 years," he added. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/6086374.stm Quote

al-n-ing Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 I don’t get on here too often so that’s why late with my two penneth.I think Woody – ‘let them get on with it’, is one way of coping with it. I have not lived in there country, but I am sure that I could not get away with the same kind of things they do here. In fact I’d be locked up – that I am sure of.The original question was ‘should they remove veils’? YES & under no circumstances should they be allowed to wear them in any public place.I have read this topic from start to present……oh what short memories you have! My memory isn’t perfect, so you are at liberty to correct me if I’m wrong.A few years ago there was a female police constable shot dead in London. The killer went to ground in his embassy. The S.A.S stormed the building – it was all on TV. Then all the staff were shipped home – including the killer/murderer. How did he get away? He left the building dressed as a Muslim woman – complete with veil – this was reveled months later So if our government wont put a stop to them wearing veils after murder…..what chance do we have? How much further can they go? Quote

Chez Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 Arab Suicide Bombers Explained Everyone wonders why Muslim terrorists are so quick to commit suicide. Let's see now No beer No bars No radio No television No Playboy or Penthouse No rugby No football No basketball No baseball No golf No dancing No music No bikinis on the beach No nude beaches No summer mini skirts and braless beauties No BBQ pork No ham No bacon No hot-dogs No burgers No lobster No shellfish or even frozen seafood sticks No Christmas. Rags for clothes and dishtowels for hats. Constant wailing from the guy next door because he's sick and there are no doctors. Constant wailing from the guy in the tower. You can't shave. Your wife can't shave. You can't even shave your wife. Sand is everywhere. Sand gets into everything. You wipe your backside with your left hand without toilet paper and if they catch you stealing they chop off your good hand and you have to eat with your shitty hand. You can't shower to wash off the smell of donkey cooked over burning camel dung. The women have to wear baggy dresses and veils at all times. Your bride is picked by someone else. She smells just like your camel, but your camel has a better disposition. Then your leaders tell you that when you die, you get 27 virgins or whatever and it all gets better! So no! No mystery there! al-n-ing Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 (edited) Thanks Joe, for the picture; reminder. Like I said my memory aint that good.I do remember it was murder, & they got away dressed as a muslim woman. As far as I know, still not been bought to book?If any of Yvonne Fletchers relatives read this; you have my deepest sympathies & sincere apologies for the useless judicial system. Perhaps somebody should start a petition to get veils banned? http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/list Edited April 19, 2007 by al-n-ing Quote
micknand Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 A few weeks ago a young lady wearing one of these pulled out on me - I was shocked to see her driving whilst wearing one. Fortunatley I was able to avoid a bump. Then, yesterday, I saw a driving school car, all over the road and when I finally got past it the driver was wearing one of these things! My questions are - Can these be worn legally whilst driving? Do the pictures on the driving license feature these outfits? and how can a driving examiner be sure the person sitting the test is the the same person as the one on the license? Surely they impede on peripheral vision - I am not volunteering to try it out though. worried and confused Mick Quote

Driving Licences bear full faced Photos. A Driving Examiner will ask them to remove the garment. Quote
