Info from SAGA mag March edition 2011.

Anyone who keeps a vehicle, even on a drive or in a garage will have to insure it unless they register it as officially off the road. At the moment the police can only fine a motorist or seize vehicles without insurance which are being driven on public roads. New rules expected in April will make it an offence to be the keeper of a vehicle that is not insured unless it has a SORN even though it is OFF the road

So be warned friends they are out to get you. The fine will be £100 if it's not SORN covered or insured.
