blondchaser Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 What does your citroen dealer charge????????????I phoned two citroen dealers today to ascertain cost of repairs. Both said it would firstly involve a diagnostic check. One quoted £67+vat and the other quoted £96. Both said it would take around an hour. I would have thought that these prices were factory set!!!Anyway, how did mechanics find faults on cars before these diagnostic computers were invented??? Are there no EXPERIENCED mechanics out there anymore???? Quote

blondchaser Posted April 12, 2012 Author Posted April 12, 2012 Thank you rawthey. My late father, with over fifty years repairing all faults on all vehicles and plant, must be turning in his grave if he knew what crap passes for cars these days. And your right in particular to diesel vehicles, they stopped being ultra reliable the day they introduced electronics. Even my Sierra diesel let me down only because the elecrtic fuel cut off failed and nearly caused a serious accident. So is there a standard price for diagnostics???? Quote
stimulator Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 The rate is set by the hourly mechanic rate for the garage. Quote
Lancelot Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 So they pay the apprentice £7 an hour and charge the customer £65 an hour?? Quote
keefie Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 I went to the two Citroen places in town today. I told both of them that the engine management light had come on and I would like them to hook up their laptop and tell me what the fault code was. They both wanted the car left with them to do diagnostics. I told them I didn't want diagnostics I just wanted the fault code, they both claimed it is not that simple. I said oh yes it is, I've had it done before. They wouldn't move from their position, so I walked out. Quote
