Hi all,  I own a 05 Xsara Picasso 2.0 HDI Exclusive that I absolutely love but its done 75k miles now!!

Ive read on the forum it would be wise to change Cambelt / Timing Belt!!

Im going to change the following;

Cambelt

Tensioner

Water Pump

What else would people recommend to change at same time?

What kind of price am I looking at paying?

Would anybody recommend garages??

I live in Lincolnshire but travel upto Halifax every month to visit parents so Yorkshire/Lancashire also a possibility!

I think the book says 100,000 miles, so maybe no rush.

There is an idler as well as the tensioner - if you change one you may as well change both as they have similar bearings so may have similar wear.

Lots of opinions on this,My own reged 2003 2 ltr hdi I had done at 98.800 miles I bought all the bits req from gfs. Cam belt kit,Good quality water pump,New serpentine belt (Aux Belt) for aircon & steering pump also bought new long life antfreeze. Had the job done at local trusted garage £80 for labour. When I turned up at the agreed time & handed him the keys, he asked by the way what miles has the car done I said 98.800 miles,He joked bloody hell give me hand to push it in to the workshop, I am not going to risk driving it in.

I picked the car up later that day & he had saved me the old parts as asked. I was astonished how well the cam belt and pulleys looked belt of course looked used but no sign of immenent failure & pulley spun free with no bad noise the water pump however when spun had a couple slight tight spots,Ok considering nearly 10yrs old & close to 100.000 miles pretty impresive.

At what miles you decide to do the cambelt change is up to you

My Fiat Ducato campervan cambelt change is recomended at 60.000 intervals to give you an Idea

Hi All,

I am having to piggy-back on this thread as I am unable to start my own. Looking to get the following done on my Xsara Picasso 2.0l HDI Exclusive, and wondered if there was anything else I should consider?

The car is just coming up to the 75K mark in mileage, and I am taking it in for the following:

Oil Filter Change
Drain and Refill Transmission fluid
Fit New Cam Belt
New Water Pump
Tensioners
Aux Belt

Also, any idea what sort of price I should be expecting? I was thinking of just asking around and see who would do it all for as close to the £300 mark as possible?

Any suggestions are welcome, and Thanks in advance!
