granpa Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Are you offended when you discover one in your hotel, a university has banned them from being placed in new student accommodation on the grounds 'it may offend' some students from overseas, I personally don't give a monkeys whether its in my hotel drawer or not, I never take it out or read it, should the distributers end this practice as not many are so strong on religion in this country anymore, not Christianity anyway. stimulator Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Doesn't worry me, but what does is the insistence by some that it will cause offence to others. They don't have to look. So the others have their own book, but then they shouldn't be offended if I don't want to read their book or they mine. Religious intolerance is the base for all of our problems at the moment. Quote
pilot Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 To be fair I don't believe that any of our visitors from overseas take offence at any of these things. We seem to have a home grown bunch of people who are almost "professionally offended " by almost anything that represents traditional views or beliefs. My considered advice is to challenge them in the most vociferous way and tell them that it is their imbalanced views that are the most perverted , racial and dangerous of all. This doesn't just include the topic raised here but is increasingly common thro'out society. Just tell them to f go away. Quote

Lancelot Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I go with what Stim says. I'm not religious but why not put bibles into hotels if they wish. Quote
stimulator Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 (edited) It was great to see the Festival of Rememberance is still conducted in English and C of E. The Cenotaph ceremony was also the same C of E service. So where were the do gooders complaining about offence on those occasions? Didn't dare put their heads above the parapet.
