Davef68 Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 (edited) EDIT TItle should be BRAKE DISCS! My MD reports that my front and rear brake discs require replacing soon, and quoted me almost £700 for 'genuine' parts and close to £500 for 'non genuine' parts fully fitted. Reasonable or better looking for an independent to do the job? Edited September 17, 2015 by Davef68 Quote
gray Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 (edited) ECP (Eurocarparts) Have Front Discs for about £15, rear for £50. Rear Pads are about £15 and Fronts are an average of about £22. It's best to replace pads at the same time too; Total for Parts: approx £110 (Based on a 1.6 Diesel) Do the maths on the labour ! I'd shop around..... Edited September 17, 2015 by gray 1 Quote
ChrisGibbard Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 I would "kind of politely" tell your main dealer that you are not paying for his all-inclusive first class cruise around the world.I would be surprised if an independent quoted much more than £350. Including brake fluid which gray forgot to include in his Eurocarparts advert !One of my oldest friends is a Manager at one of their depot's. You would be astounded at how cheap you can get their parts for, (based on what they pay for them) and no, I am not telling who he is. Quote
gray Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 (edited) Don't need brake fluid as you'll be pushing it back up towards the reservoir.... :) If you 'do' change the fluid though, it needs to be bled under pressure. (I only used ECP as it's click and collect prices are good, it's local to me, and the others charge more) ;) Edited September 18, 2015 by gray 1 Quote
