Fern Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Just bought a Picasso and was told when we bought it that it could do with a service (got a discount of £200 in lieu). It's on 38000 and has a full service record book. How often are services due on Picassos and what exactly do they check? Does the garage alter the message on the dash so that the "arrange service" message disappears? Sorry if these are really basic questions but I need to ask somewhere and this place seems the best? dbamsey Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Services are due at 12500, 25000,37500,50000,62500 etc every 12500 milesif your pic is on 38000 and the spanner light is showing it suggests that you are overdue a service. this 37500 mile service is a major service but without looking up i'm not sure what it entails.Look in your service book and it'll tell you.Could be pricey though. Lancelot Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 My 12,000 / 1yr service is due. The spanner came on yesterday. I looked in the service book to see what has to be done. I've never been so confused by a servicing chart. Can anyone understand it? Quote
Fern Posted April 15, 2005 Author Posted April 15, 2005 Thanks. Have looked in the service manual and it has been serviced at 37500!! Good news!! How come the spanner is showing then? Is it just a matter of the garage forgetting to switch it off? How can I get rid of the spanner myself? Is this possible or do I have to get the mechanic to do it? Thanks Fern Quote
dbamsey Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 look in the handbook and it'll tell you how to reset the service light . there are lots of posts on here about search for service light and it'll be here. I think you hold down the trip button (located on the left side of the dash, the lower one with zeros on it) switched on the igition to the last turn before starting the engine and the service light will count from ten downward resetting back to another 12500 mile which will start counting down as you rack up the mileage.when you switch the igniton on you'll notice on the left side of the dash that it'll show how many miles are left until the next service tyhen the dispaly will revert back to the trip mileage. Incidently the service light is also connected to the date, so if in a 12 month period you fail to do 12500 the service light will come on as you have not had it serviced for a year. Hence the service book saying "12500 miles or one year whichever comes first". hope this is helpful. Quote
DJClarke Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 Yeah - that worked to reset my Arrange Service light - excellent - I bought mine last July and it was put throught a service at the time - but they didnt reset the clock - i've been meaning to go back down to get them to reset it for me but havent had the time (such a busy schedule) so this has saved me time etc. Has anyone seen that there is a guy on ebay selling the information on how to reset it yourself for £0.99 - and it son here free - bargain. Thanks again. Dave. Quote
