There isn't one.

That was a surprise.

Funny how you don't notice these things, until in this instance the dark evenings have arrived.

Is it the same across the range or just in the cheapo Vibe version.

Anything else suprised any owners of these wonderful little cars ?

Yes I was surprised with that too... I got the SX model (called Rhythm in UK)

Great value for the money and good running costs...

Overall it's a nice car on a budget

Was a bit surprising, but not too bothered really - I rarely drive with anyone after dusk, as I don't often have reason to.

I love how basic this car is - all the panels and floor coverings feel really cheap and basic, and beneath the steering wheel you can see the column and everything :)

Just a thought, does anyone get a soft clunk noise whenever the clutch is released in neutral with the engine idleing?

As you say the car is on a budget, no matter the model, and this includes Aygo and 107.

There are items cut out of the car for cost cutting , which really are a bit mean.

Passenger courtesy light door switch as you mentioned (some owners have bought a passenger door switch and ran an electrical wire across from door to door under the carpet, fitted in parallel).

Glove box lid needed to finish the dash is missing (optional cost at £30).

Front seats (2 door model) do not memorise position when letting rear passengers in (this is a pain).

No engine temperature reading (argh, never been without one before), no rev counter (not standard on most models).

Total lack of insulation under the carpets (but is a good thing if you get the dreaded door leaks).

Absolutely no thick underseal layer, as any stones on the road, ping the underside of your car making one giant banging sound in a tin can :o

Yet we do get weird things like low fuel buzzer, and drivers seatbelt reminder going beep beep BEEP.

BUT... even after all this lack of creature comforts, we still love our city bugs :)

PS... CLUTCH.. Nice and light action, not had any noise on the move or stationary over the past year I have owned the car. Have you taken your car back to the dealer yet ?

Haven't bothered tbh, it's only a light clunk. Next time you sit in your c1 with the engine idle, try it - it's quite quiet, and almost more of a gentle feel...

Mind you, I'm getting rust issues (only 6 months old!) so I'll be going back to the dealer anyway.

RUST..................... where ?

Just beneath the door rubber seal - mine's come loose, and there's two small patches where about an inch and a half is starting to brown - it's not too serious, but it begs the question of where else that you can't see is rusting?

I bought a C1 Rythm demo car from the dealer in Edinburgh works ok told me it was top of the range 2000 mls it's on the clock but invoice stated 7000. Invoice changed to 2000. How can I tell if this is correct. Also why no itermittent rear wiper and glove compartment cover?

Look at the milometer part of the speedo !

It is a cheap car, they are made down to a price, you can buy the glove comp. cover for £30 odd from a dealer.

Likely just a clerical error, of 7k against 2k.

At that mileage of 7k, you are not going to tell if the car has been clocked, especially with electronic odometers, as there is not enough wear on the car pedals, steering wheel, seat, tyres, etc.

I assume being out a main dealer they should be trustworthy enough

As for the intermitent wipe, most people on other sites have only complained about why the top two inches are not wiped, causing most drivers to stoop a bit to see the cleared section in the rain.

I read in an overseas 107 site a while back, someone had fitted a longer wiper (arm?).

A few of us have done this. Trico makes a line of wipers called Exact Fit...relatively cheap...I don't recall the model number but the C1 is now in their catalog at the shop, so I just looked it up and then bought the 14" model with the same "c clip" on it.

It works...pretty well. It definitely wipes more of the rear window but due to the curve at the top of the window it "misses" about the last 1" as if the wiper blade is not in contact with the window. I'm sure it would be a welcome improvement to the right-side drive C1s; I understand that they left the wiper on the left regardless of that...

It cost 79 NOK here in Norway...which is very cheap for here...can't imagine it costing more than £5 in the UK.

I saw a rust post earlier in the thread. We get a 12 yr rust warranty here in Norway (it's quite moist)...does the same apply in the UK?

Yup, 12 years in the UK too. Is Norway more moist than UK ? Its pretty damp and breezy right now.

Not sure if it's as moist here as there but we do have quite of bit of rain and snow here in the south as well as the coastal weather patterns...I tell you I think the worst is all the salt used on the roads during the winter. While I understand and appreciate it's usage, it's hell on the car's exterior...

We use salt here too :(

It might reduce accidents due to ice, but it kills cars in the long run. I've had an aluminium fuel filter corrode through under our Berlingo due to salt.

Apparently in New Zealand they don't use salt, and they drive around in 30 to 40 year old cars!
