Rough idling is probably unlikely to be an ecu fault. What parts have been replaced - air filter, any seals, exhaust joints checked for leaks, spark plugs, throttle plate/body cleaned, MAP sensor, fuel injectors, inlet lambda sensor and also one from a Citroen dealer used, exhaust catalyst, coolant temp sensor ? Some info here http://www.petercoopercarrepairs.co.uk/new_page_3.htm You could also use a Citroen dealer with the correct diagnostic equipment to find the fault rather than spending more money on parts, hoping to find the right one before wasting too much.
-
If it does not run too well when cold, then maybe the temperature sensors need checking with a code reader that does live data - inlet air temp, engine coolant temp - just in case they are giving the wrong value so the fuel/air mix is wrong. There could also be an air leak causing a lean mixture.
-
Did you clean the throttle plate and body, was there any carbon build up that needed removing ? How long does the rough idle last for since if you are going to change the car and it is not that bad, then most people would not spend any money fixing the problem.

Welcome to the forum. Is it cheaper to replace the parts than to have your existing ecu tested and repaired ? Was it a Citroen dealer who diagnosed a faulty ecu ? There have been several cases on here where people have replaced ecus and associated parts but found their cars still did not work. Note that your car will adopt the higher mileage of your car or the replacement ecu so you will need to keep some records/receipts in case you have an insurance claim and your mileage jumps above your annual allowance. However, there may be places who will correct the mileage. You should not need the key surround, this is just a detector for the immobiliser chip in the key. You can also remove the chips from the replacement keys and put them in your existing keys to save replacing all the door and ignition locks, provided the key cases can be split to replace the batteries. If you remove the batteries from the keys they will need to be initialised to the car again following the procedure in the handbook but best to avoid disconnecting the batteries until the ecu is working. As well as the ecu, bsi, keys (make sure these have the chips in them), you may also want the radio since your existing one will not work properly (might bleep) with the replacement ecu/bsi until it has a diagnostic to code the ecu/bsi to it.

C5 2009 Tourer No Power To Rear 12V Socket And Tail Lift
paul.h replied to Chrisc5v6's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
Does the car think the tail gate is open when it is closed - any messages on the dash ? If it did though the car would not lock. You could try with the tail gate open but close its lock against a screwdriver if you want to do any tests. I think the car gets its door open/closed info from switches built in to the locks. I would also have a good look at the tail gate wiring where it goes between the body/door in the rubber sleeve since it is common for the wires to break. If there is not a fault then maybe it is a software problem that might need an update. You have still not mentioned if you have measured the battery voltage or tried the tail gate opening with the engine running. -
Citroen Dispatch 2010 Electricals – A Common Problem
paul.h replied to Grabit's topic in Dispatch - Technical
Welcome to the forum. If not done, I would contact BBA for their comments since they have fixed your bsi but it is not working. The lights and wipers use the comms 2000 switch unit under the steering wheel, so possibly it is a problem with that. Does it have a rain sensor at the top of the windscreen that allows auto wipers and lights - if so it could be faulty or need a good clean. This is from the C3 Common Problems topic to reset the comms unit and may be worth a try: 27. Comms 2000 unit reset method to fix wipers/washers not working. This topic by vectratot includes a method to reset the comms 2000 unit after the wipers and washers stopped working http://www.citroen-o...ing/#entry82270 Was the van jump started to get it going since this can damage the bsi. This is from the C3 Common Problems topic: 21. Odd electrical problems after jump starting another car. This occurred on a Peugeot 406 but could apply to a Citroen. When jump starting another car a power spike caused the BSI software to become corrupt and the headlights would come on after the car was switched off and locked, causing the battery to go flat. It was possible to reprogramme another BSI to use but this may not always be the case, requiring a new BSI to be needed. The problem is when you are jump starting, the regulator on the running (good) car senses a drain on itself and allows the regulator to put out more power to maintain 14.4v and if you just pull the jump lead off you are causing a power surge until the regulator adjusts itself. 9 out of 10 times it is fine but the 406 customer was just unlucky. To help avoid this possibility when jump starting it is recommended to - connect jump leads making sure you put the negative lead onto the engine of the flat car - once the flat car is started do not take the leads off - go into the good car and switch on the rear demister, headlights and foglights. - then remove the jump leads - now switch the headlight and demisters off one at a time. This allows the regulator to catch up and regulate the power output. We are not talking about seconds here, its actually miliseconds for it to alter itself but its long enough to fry things. -

How To Lock Flywheel To Remove Crankshft Pulley.
paul.h replied to DonL's topic in Technical Section - C8
For the 2.2 petrol engine from RPO 9411 you might need to buy the correct timing pins. The one for the flywheel has a large diameter that fits in to the engine casing at the back with a smaller diameter that will go in to a hole in the flywheel. It is Citroen part 0189R http://gm-tools.co.uk/214,flywheel-locking-tool-peugeot-citroen.html Before you buy anything check for the hole in the casing so you know it is the right tool. -
I would want another car for £1900, not just a couple of injectors and an ecu. Having your ecu refurbished may be the best option plus a couple of used injectors. If you go for a used ecu you then have to have the keys to go with it with the immobiliser chips to put in to your keys, also your radio would need coding to the ecu so it continues to work. There might be other things but I am not sure. It may be possible for you to have a look inside your ecu to see if it does look damaged before commiting to spending anything. Was anything said about the crankshaft sensor ? Citroen sell a rubbery/plastic washer to put under the washer jets to help seal them against the bonnet but I went for sealant instead. This could be the 2007 fix. This is copied from the C3 Common Problems topic: 2. Petrol injector failure. Replaced free by our dealer under warranty. The engine had a very bad misfire and the engine management light came on. Caused by water dripping on the injector from the washer pipe connections and through the bonnet washer jet holes. Prevention is to put sealant under the washer jet and to change the plastic washer piping to flexible rubber to seal better and move any joints to the side of the bonnet. If the engine is only a bit juddery without the management light coming on, it may be worth replacing the spark plugs before condemning the injectors.

Welcome to the forum. For some reason Citroen number the cylinders from the gearbox end on the C3, so cylinder no. 1 is nearest the gearbox. If moving the injectors does not change the cylinder nos. in the fault codes then that probably suggests a wiring/connector fault. If water has got in to the ecu plug to cause corrosion then maybe some has also got in to the ecu. It may also have corroded the wiring. Do the washer pump and wipers work, I read somewhere that water can travel along the washer pump wiring to the ecu. We had a 2003 1.4 petrol C3 on which 2 injectors failed after heavy rain (a common fault since water can drip on to them through the washer jet/bonnet hole and from leaks on the washer jet pipes) and that went to limp mode which limits the rpm and caused it to run with a very bad misfire. It was fixed by the dealer under warranty. In your case, possibly the injectors are ok but maybe a fault is putting in too much petrol or it is not igniting which might explain the cat getting red hot. This could also explain why the inlet lambda sensor needed replacing. P1336 Crank / Cam Sensor Range / Performance - this code suggests a problem with the crankshaft sensor. This is located on top of the bellhousing so you could check its wiring and if it is clean but a new one is not expensive. These can fail as they get hot and stop the car but once cool will allow it to run again until it gets hot. You could check the resistance across its connector to see if it is open circuit when the car will not run. If you are unable to fix the car yourself then you would be better using a Citroen dealer who will have the correct diagnostic equipment to do a full check of the car.

Welcome to the forum. Citroen used to list service scedules in the Warranty and Maintenance book but now this only gives some very basic info which they call systematic operations (oil change plus a few checks). You could ask your dealer for a service printout. You can register on MyCitroen to get more info on the servicing needed and this should also have been given in the handbook pack as a single sheet called the routine servicing plan when the van was handed over - this is mentioned on the inside cover of the Warranty book. It does not give much away though, just when a service is due. Next thing is to use your VIN in the service.citroen site and a list of servicing items can be printed - you need to register as an other professional non emergency services and as a member of the Citroen Owners Club. Once on the site use your VIN top left to find your vehicle. I can not remember where abouts you need to look but use the left column headings to start. http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres This printout lists various service items and their frequency such as brake fluid, timing belt, air filter and also the frequency of the systematic items but does not list them (see the list in the Warranty book). Any problems with the van should be seen to by the dealer under the warranty, so I would take it back to them.

Welcome to the forum. What does this wiring plug connect to ? Is the beige wire a new one put in for the Nokia ?
-
If the engine management light is on, then there should be a fault code logged, unless it is a fault with the light. Since your car is a petrol any code reader should be able to read the codes that light up the eml. Only Citroen specific ones may need a Citroen diagnostic. Something like a faulty cam shaft sensor, lambda sensor, catalyst not working, etc could put the eml on and still let the car run. Poor running on starting could be something like the throttle body and plate needing cleaning or an engine temperature measurement fault or something else that affects the air/fuel mixture. Is the air filter clean and other servicing up to date such as spark plugs ? To identify the egr valve you could look at the parts diagrams if you register on service.citroen as an other professional non emergency services and as a member of the Citroen Owners Club. Once on the site use your VIN (VIS) top left to find your car. http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres

Automatic Transmission Oil C5 1997 Petrol 2003
paul.h replied to spiff's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
May be you could contact the oil supplier for advice so they have some responsibility. At the end of the day, if you are unsure about what you are putting in, the risk is the gearbox may not work properly. You could see what the cost difference is between using a Citroen dealer to do the oil change and doing it yourself and see if you think the difference is enough to risk not using the right oil. -
C5 2009 Tourer No Power To Rear 12V Socket And Tail Lift
paul.h replied to Chrisc5v6's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
You might need to use a Citroen dealer to get one of those fuses. I hope it is the right one after all this. Probably it is not mentioned in the handbook to make you go to a dealer, they do this with the maxi fuses, possibly thinking if one of these fuses goes there could be something serious wrong. If your manual includes the parts diagrams you should be able to find the Citroen part no. for the fuse. The 12 volt socket in the wiring diagram takes a feed direct from the battery and through the fuse F6 so you could try just by passing the fuse or removing it and bolting the wire back without a fuse to see if it works. If not wanting to risk the wiring you could link in your own fuse. To check it is the right one, use a magnifying glass to read the wire number and compare it to the wire number on the diagram. The Sedre is the same as in the Citroen service box. I have this but for some reason the diagrams are not showing so I may need to reload it. If you look in it under General and fuses, there should be a list of the BCP3 ones which I think may include the relays for the suspension. Next thing will be to check the diagrams to see why the tailgate is not working if it is not related to the rear socket. -
On one of the C5 sections there is a pinned topic of members able to help, there might be somebody near you. I have read on here that if the eolys level/counter is not reset the eolys will continue to be dosed but you will still get the low level messages. If your car is an early C5 then I think to reset the counter needs the relevant ecu replacing.

Welcome to the forum. This could be anything and a diagnostic may be needed to find the fault. I hope you have fixed this by now, if so what was the fault ?
-
Could be. Use a lever against it to see if there is any play in the joints on it. If still not sure, undo one end and then look for any play.

I had a 1988 petrol Saab 900 with an egr valve and that would coke up. Each service I would remove it and clean it. Files/scrapers did the job but probably there are chemicals you can buy - possibly oven cleaner would do since that removes carbon. Before trying the egr valve you should use a code reader to find out what the fault is, otherwise after cleaning and if the fault still exists you will not know if you have caused another fault.

C5 2009 Tourer No Power To Rear 12V Socket And Tail Lift
paul.h replied to Chrisc5v6's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
Have you tried the tailgate opening with the engine running ? By the time you have sorted this you will the the UK expert on C5 fuses outside of the Citroen dealership. Our C4 has a fusebox on top of the battery and recently it lacked acceleration which turned out to be a fault in this fusebox, found under warranty by the dealer by the U fault code generated. If your emanual does not have wiring diagrams these are part of the Citroen Service box (available through ebay on 3 dvds) but you need to use your VIN and RPO to see ones specific to your car. A dealer has access to them but I can not imagine them letting you have a copy. -
Auto gearbox oil changes seem to be done at highish mileages by people on here and it appears to make a difference. coastline taxis usually recommends getting a dealer to do it since a diagnostic is needed to ensure the oil is hot enough when setting the level. If the level is not right the gearbox may not work properly and there are some recent posts on here which confirm this.

I have read this topic but since I have not had an auto it means nothing to me other than it is worth pinning since the info is excellent. To help others and searching though the title could be improved - do you have any suggestions ?
