  1. another year another fult with my car!!! Ok its now 5 years old and has done 34,000 miles It is a sensodrive diesel 1.4 It loses first gear when driving especially after reversing, I have to drive off in 2nd gear which causes the car to bleep and obviously shudder. Can anyone tell me if this means new gear box is needed and what sort of money im looking at for that? or ( and thi is wishful thinking ) i there a simple explanation for it. Im still sriving the car as it does not always have this fault, am I makeing the matter worse? will it fail compleetely eventually. I just cant afford to fix at the moment so Im looking for a miracle Advice please

  3. I was really really lucky recently, my C3 was have warranty work and they had to keep my car for around a week and the dealer didnt have a courtesy car to loan me the first day, so let me take home a brand new, 6 miles on the clock, C5, in black, for sale. ......it was beautiful, they then tried to talk me into buying it. I badly wanted that car put my pennies wouldnt stretch that far, but promised myself and my very enthusiastic boys ..one day..
  4. Thanks for replies, I looked at my rev today and they are always around 2000 so no probs there, i have noticed that its in third gear until I reach around 43 mph then it changes to forth and around 53 mph before it hits fifth. I dont actually like the gear system on this although i am getting used to it, I hate the fact that it rolls backwards on even very small inclines if I have stopped in traffic and on acceleration it can be very jumpy at times like it hasnt quite found the correct gear and yet at the same time I find it really tricky to drive it as if its a manual car with a missing pedal. Thanks so much for the parking advice, I will leave the car in 1 in future, strange though because I could have sworn the dealer told me to never leave the car in 1 when I bought it. Im really glad its not a fault on my car though and I will spend some time cleaning it over the weekend and loving it again, I might even name it .... Thanks again Linda
  5. Thanks thats exactly what I needed to hear. I totally agree that my confidence in the car has been shaken to the point where If Im driving and smell an unusual smell I automatically think its coming from the car rather than outside. I will check the revs tomorrow and if they are where they should be I will try to be more positive about the car. Oh the speed box is 5 gears, and do you think the roll without the handbrake on is normal as well ? Thanks for your replies I think this is the second time you have helped me. Linda
  6. My suspension went at 26t miles fortunately It was still under warranty and was fixed free of charge. 2 months later I have put it in for its MOT ( the car is just 4 years old) and it failed on a CV gaiter split, same side as suspension went but ' apparently ' unrelated. I told citroen dealer that i feel like I have bought a piece of #### as this was the first car in my life that had ever failed its MOT and I had had some old bangers over the years The dealer kindly reminded me that after the major fault my car had jusr been repaired for this was a very minor MOT fail and that in his experience the cars that he has seen with the sae fault as mine have huge lists of faults when it come to MOT time ( reasuring for next year then !! ) Ok here is my concern and I must admit I have lost totla confidence in the car but would appreciate anyones oppinion: It is a C3 diesel sensodrive it never put itself into 4th gear unless Im driving at over 40 miles per hour o mostly it drives in 3rd, Is this normal ? also when I park the sensodeive doe not have a P for park it is parked in N and if I dont remember to put the handbrake on it will and has rolled backwards ! Please help with these two problems are they me being nervous or something to worry about? Thank in advance
  7. Thanks everyone for your replies. I phoned Citroen this morning and quoted a few things from this thread to look knowledgable and they Citroen service man couldnt have been more helpful, I didnt have any AA cover and he arranged for collection of car free of charge and says that It can all be repaired under an extended warranty that I was given with the car when I purchased it last July and he will even replace the tyre free of charge!!! I was very impressed indeed. The AA turned up and it took them one and a half hours to get my car onto the back of the truck It had sunk that low. on examining they say that the spring also caused the strutt to break and then they both went in the wheel, he showed me the tyre and I could literally see the wire. Very scary to think I was driving it when it happened. Not sure now how long I have to wait for repair, Im hoping all will be well on its return and no lasting damage has occured. I will keep you informed if Citroen decide not to cover cost after all. Any advice please on what to look out for on its return? Thanks again Linda
  8. well this is a really interesting thread, I had no idea there was a problem with the springs until this evening when I was searching what to do about mine. I have a c3 04 diesel sensodrive 26t miles and the front passenger side pring went today causing my tyre to smoke ( badly ) how the tyre hasnt blown I will never know. does this sound like the same problem to you ? I will be phoning citroen tomorrow as I only bought the car in sept 2007 any advice on how to conduct the conversation so that I look knowledgeable, I dont want the dealer to try to dismiss me as a woman driver ( you some of them will if they can ) thanks
