  1. Thanks.. I ended up yanking too ;) man, I haven't seen many stock speakers this crap looking before (matches their sound pretty well);) I had some jbls lying around I plopped in in the meantime(which aren't great, but MUCH better). my main goal was to take a look see, for dimensions and stuff. looks deep enough to fit almost anything.. will keep my eyes peeled for some good components now :) cheers. -Russ.
  2. yeah so I've given that whole losing the parking assist thing a thought.. a possible thing to do about it, if you actually install a proper system in your car.. ie, head unit + amps.. etc.. is to use a speaker-to-line level converter and a simple mixer (something like on http://www.epanorama.net/circuits/linesum.html works fine.. I use that to combine my modified cellphone headset to the audio in at the moment..) you'd have to leave the old head unit connected though.. meanwhile, I'm waiting to see how certain adaptors work, etc.. I know, for instance, that pioneer has a connector that hooks their head units up to the steering remote and gets speed signals and some reverse signal.. not sure if that means the parking assist thing (which would solve that problem..) and alpine has something on their way, so I hear. either way.. there are problems.. ways to solve them.. and ways to get around them.. just gotta suit yourself a solution. -Ruzz.
  3. wozza, thanks. so.. I tested out disconnecting my unit and as you say, display is fully functional. I'm yet to experiment with adding another head-unit. I've been looking at pioneers since they have this: http://www.pioneer.no/no/product_print.jsp...product_id=1533 which has the C4 on its chart.. claiming to be a control interface and some support for 'reverse gear' which I'm not sure if that means parking assist.. which isnt a bad thing  I ended up converting a nokia headpiece into a speakerphone through my aux 1 which is pretty nifty.. I'm planning on building a 2 source stereo mixer to replace my input selector though.. and will probably play around with some op amps to boost the aux in a bit.. not sure I got time to mess around with half voltages, etc.. so maybe I'll scrap that and start with moving my amps across and replacing the speakers.. then work on stepping down the head-unit output to line level, combining all 3 sources, and running them to the amps.. and eventually get a new head unit and scrap all the DIY crap.. and.. hmm... try break something else :( anyone else into electronics here?..
  4. Well, I'm new here.. so.. hey, I'm Russ  Proudly driving a 2006 2L dark red c4. so, a couple things I've learnt so far.. and something I'd like to.. 1. anyone trying to hook up an aux in can use pins 4 ,10, and 11 for R, L and ground respectively. I used some mothorboard wiring (the ones for like, the lil speaker and switches..just seperate them with a cutter.. they fit perfectly).. these, naturally, go into the part that actually has pins 4, 10 and 11. they can connect directly to any headphoen jack or mini jack or rca (I have a little rca 'selector'to switch between different sources).. you just need to get citroen to activate "Aux 1". the volume is a bit soft.. so maybe I'll build a lil amp.. belkin has some ipod thing with an amp built in.. hmm.. anyway, that works on my standard blaupunkt RD4 (the basic single cd no mp3 system thatcame in my C4) 2.another thing anyone may want to know is that the seatbelt switches are wired with a little plug under the seats that are easy to find (near the back of the passanger and driver seat) .. just unplugging these leaves the system thinking you're always strapped in. (I like to plug and unplug in the driveway.. so..) 3. the guy at citroen told me that if you save a radio station wile RDS has been dissabled, it'll be dissabled for that station. now, default rds.. can be annoying.. so I'll try see how that works.. he also told me the display and a whole bunch of other stuff work off the radio so removing it in favor of a third part option may be problematic. he advised I keep it connected.. say, run it to the boot or something. does anyone know more about this? I'm considering one of the pioneers that have buit in bluetooth.. and try find their control connecter thats supposedly connects to the C4 steering controns.. so, my Q: anyone done any installation that includes keeping all functionality of the display while maintaing steering control support? would be much appreciated. else.. wish me luck :) -Russ.
