  1. You dont actually have to remove the white cover at all, there is a black sort of dust cover clipped over the top of the white cover, and in the top left hand corner (looking at the back of the lock from inside the door), you should see a rectangular slot, if you shine a torch in there, you should see a brown/grey 4mm circular piece of plastic in a white plastic slide mechanism, If you push down hard on this circular bit, the door will open whether it is locked, jammed, siezed or childlocked as this operates directly on the cam that holds the door shut, get someone to lean on the door from the outside when you do push down on it, as this will ease the pressure off the cam and make it easier to push down on the plastic bit. Once the door is open, you can take the lock out (you need to remove the screw about 6 inches below the 3 that hold the door lock on), and then either fix your lock, or fit a new one and you are sorted ! Hope this helps anyone else having similar problems, but you dont need to destroy your lock mechanism or cut the door to get access to it if you simply push down on the bit i described above
  2. arm bearings all done, wasnt difficult really, just a bit time consuming, once i had the arm off, you wouldnt believe the play in the bearings, there was about 7-8mm of movement in them !!, the bearings had disintegrated and it had worn a giant chunk out of the swinging arm once the bearings had been ground away!, I had to beat the snot out of the outer bearing races to get them out as they were fully siezed in, I beat one of them so hard that i actually split the outer race and it fell out then, and the rollers in the bearings were just dust !, there were 3 rollers left shaped like rusty rugby balls and half the outer race on 1 side was gone, worn/rusted away, and the inner race on 1 end had cold welded itself to the axle tube and i had to slit it with a dremel to get it off ! But the new bearings went in easy, tapped them in with a 24mm socket and hammer, and its all done now, if anyone else does it, you can probably expect it to take about 3-4 hours per side, the difference it makes to the suspension is amazing too, it floats again like my old XM did on the back, the slightest weight on the back and it goes down, then pumps itself back up a few seconds later, very nice and smooth and noise free on the bumps ! I just wish i had done the job sooner, as i could see the back wheels leaning in a bit and it was creaking when the suspension moved sometimes too.
  3. thanks, that clears that one up !, i will get on with the job early in the morning now i know the fluid in there is normal
  4. I am taking the rear radius arms off my Citroen C5 HDI 2001 model so that i can change the radius arm bearings, and i have found the pins that hold the suspensions hydraulic cylinder ram onto the radius arm are corroded in, so i was going to pop the rubber boots off the hydraulic suspension cylinders and remove the piston instead, but upon pulling the rubber dust boot off, i found it full of some sort of fluid ?, and a closer looks, shows some piping going in and out of the boot. Does anyone know what this fluid is and where it comes from, and if its supposed to be there ? Thanks
  5. My rear nearside door is locked permanently too, the child locks are on, and the door lock has failed locked so i cant open it from the inside or outside, i managed to get the interior panel off, and moving the rods about doesnt unlock it either, and no amount of leaning or banging on the door releases it either. If anyone comes across a fix for this problem, can they please please post the solution !, my door has been stuck for nearly 9 months now and its a real pain when i could do with getting in from that side Thanks
  6. Hi, I have just bought myself a 2001 C5 HDI LX and the rear left door has stopped opening with the outside handle suddenly, I also have the child locks activated as we have 3 kids that we didnt want opening the door whilst driving !, Trouble is that i have managed to get the interior door panel off, cut through the grey membrane, and i can see the lock, but cannot figure out how to open it now, i have pushed and pulled on all the bits i can see, and nothing opens the door, Does anyone know how i might be able to open the door so that i can remove the lock to fix it ?, I have done a search and this is the only post that turned up anything on stuck doors Thanks
