    Weird Spec..

I think having a sun roof may affect the specs. we started off with a 1.4 Manual with sun roof and then discovered, soon after ordering, that the 1.4 (I don't know whether its SX or not, as in NZ the SX is not used for C3, .. anyway the specs changed to small wheels, non rain sensitive wipers, cloth upholstery and manual air con. So.. what did we do, well we ordered the 1.4 petrol auto that did have these features and what happened next.... well (now this is back in October 2002,) the factory cancelled all sun roof orders EXCEPT our original... and kept doing so through to December . .. so holding breath we waited and guess what... in January here was the original C3 avec sun roof and with... yes you guessed it.... rain sensitive wipers, climate air..Velour upholstery....... and it's still the only sun roofed C3 in NZ... :D So we assumed that the sun roof option means that you get the other things too. I read recently that in announcing very strong financial results PSA point to sales of the C3, especially into UK as one of the major factors. Maybe some of the atrocious experiences recounted by Pork Pie and others are part of a sales speed wobble??? <_<
  2. Hi Mooseshaver. re outside temperature display, just push either of the two controls on your centre dash display, (the one that shows the time) and the outside temperature will be displayed for a short time. Also it should show permanently id f the temperature is below 3degrees C. The manual does say that the outside temperature display may depend upon model and country. My experience is that if the car has been idle, especially in direct sunlight, it will take a few Km's of driving for the temperature to read the appropriate temperature. This is quite normal for most vehicles. Hope this helps a little. Good to read that your C3 engine is getting over its illness. Let's hope it has had all the inoculations needed for future happy motoring.
  3. Re Pork Pies query, our C3 is 1.4 petrol - manual. Yes, it seems to me a lot of the problems reported on this site are around the C3 HDI. We are protected from this trauma as our Diesel fuel is soooooooo dirty that Citroen won't import their later diesels, this includes the C3 and the C5 2.2. for fear that the particle filter will fail prematurely. BTW - Our C5 2.0 HDI has been great. :) I assume your service garages get support from Citroen France. I know on a few occasions when the local mechanics have been stumped they have received fairly prompt advice from France. Having had a "computerised" Citroen since 1999, I have found it a rare occasion when the on board error read out actually confirms what I say is wrong. Even to the stage when our Xantia HDI just stopped, according to the on board error log, nothing wrong! What was faulty was a connector, as are most troubles on Xantia's. Is the C3 HDI a product from the joint Ford / Citroen project?
  4. No Leaks!.. can't believe the troubles you have had Pork Pie but what I can tell you is that after 5 months of owning a "C3 avec sun roof" .. no leaks from the sun roof.. oh yes no doubt someone will remind me its been summer out here, but several washes with the hose and several wet days have revealed... "NO leaks". Great for the summer, bug catcher and all.... Only problem we have noticed is that sometimes the rubber seal at the front doesn't sit correctly, but this doesn't cause a leak. ....... now where is that wooden table I need to touch?
  5. Got one of the rare "sunroofed" C3's here in NZ probably only because we placed an order back in August 2002. We couldn't get confirmation of other specs for the car so wanted to change to a 1.6. However, all orders with sunroof were cancelled each month so stuck with the original 1.4 manual. I understand there may be production problems. Haven't had any problems with our one, it doesn't leak, works well with 9 step opening settings, bug catcher and screens. I will keep you posted if any problems occur. It does make the inside feel bigger! ;)

    C3 Reviews

It is a short car. It’s not like the Policeman’s box on Dr Who; there is no more space than what you can see from the outside. The comparison that critiques here make is against a couple of new and very competitive small cars from Japan.. the Honda Jaz and now the new Mazda, both hitting back with slightly larger models at a lower prices. Having owned a 1.4 petrol with sunroof since Dec 02, the critics are right; there is not a lot of leg room in the back if your intention was to hall around 4 largish adults, and that is I suggest an unlikely regular use for this smart little car. As for the boot, its great, roomy and well lined; pity the luggage net doesn’t come as standard! As for the interior, well that’s a matter of taste, quite frankly I like to spotted plastic finish, it seems durable, I guess time will tell. Sales here in NZ tells me that it has good appeal in a pretty tough market I mentioned the sunroof only because it was quite an effort to get one out here. It’s a great asset; thought it might be gimmicky, but it’s great, with an insect filter, not too noisy and adds the spaciousness to a small car like nothing else. So far a good reliable car, no rattles, and that was after a trip over a farm track! Motor hasn’t missed a beat since day1. Did I mentions that it’s my wife’s car?
