  1. Fair enough - but when you talk of smashing a lock off I would suspect that most people would imagine some damage occuring. If that's not the case, then respect! What's the secret? :o Cheers, Mark
  2. It seems that it's the deadlock part of the mechanism that is seizing up. Last night I had another go fiddling with the lock. I tapped the back of the lock (from inside the door) with a hammer whilst locking/unlocking the door, and hey-presto, the door is now open! I can lock/unlock the door fine on the normal lock, but if I deadlock it, it's hit and miss if the door will then re-open. Now I know how to get it open, that's not the end of the world. I'll get a new lock fitted at some point. I offer this advice in the hope that it will save someone else having their door mutilated by the garage trying to smash the lock off. Cheers, Mark
  3. Hi all - I've encountered exactly the same problem - but it is the rear n/s door. (bearing in mind there is no lock on the rear door to spray any WD40) I've tried disconnecting the battery for 10+ mins to reset all electrics with no success. Also taken door panel off and peeled back skin to look inside - all rods and linkages intact/working, but the door will not open :o I stumbled across another posting elsewhere suggesting this was a known Xsara problem, and that a main dealer would have to fit a new lock - but there was no indication of how the dealer would get the door open to change the lock. Any ideas? Cheers, mark
