  1. I have found a solution to the romote key locking problem on my Xsara and thought anyone with the same problem would be interested. Open the driver's door and leave it open Put key in ignition and turn ignition on Press and hold lock button for 5 seconds Turn off ignition and remove key Wait 5 seconds and test key It's worth checking the battery in the key fob is okay first but this worked a treat for me and saved the £45 my local Citroen dealer wanted to charge me! Good luck, Dan.
  2. I have a Xsara 1.9 HDi estate and the remote control keys have stopped locking the car. One stopped a while ago and I assumed it was the battery so I have been using the other one which has now stopped working too. Replacing the battery does nothing so I am locking it manually by the door which is working fine. Both keys became a little tempremental before stopping completely and sometimes I found myself pushing the buttons very hard a number of times to get them to work, but now nothing! The car has done 135K miles so the pcb's in the keys may have had it I suppose? Any ideas for fixes or cheap repairs would be really welcome. Dan
  3. Not only has nobody replied to my post but none of you thought to suggest that my 2 year old daughter might have put a two pence piece in the cassette slot which was obviously shorting something out in there!
  4. I have a Xsara 2.0 Hdi estate with the CD changer in the boot. I am experiencing problems with the stereo, the power seems to cut out intermittently, often coincidentally with a bump/bend. It then takes a while for the power to come back. Even if the stereo is off the little green power light flashes on then off. Does anyone have any ideas about the fault or how to get the stereo out so that I can have a look behind and check for loose connections?
  5. Hi KFK, I have now had a chance to have a propper look inside that rubber gaitor and there was an earth wire completely severed and a grey control wire about to go through. I have repaired both and now have a working rear wiper and boot release! Many thanks for your advice. Dan
  6. I have had a quick look in there and could not see anything obviously wrong with the wiring, however there were a bunch of wires sheathed together. I'll strip the sheath back and have, propper look and let you know what I find. Many thanks
  7. I have a 2001 Xsara estate HDi 90BHP. Recently the rear wiper stopped working. Now when I open the boot using the catch, the wiper moves a little. Also when I turn on the ignition or turn on the rear wiper or the side lights, the boot lid tries to open (and sometimes does release). The wiper does work most times, but it runs more slowly than previously and rarely stops at the end of its wipe (with the boot now released!). Anyone had this problem or have any ideas? Dan
