I had a similar problem, the motor is removed quite easily from underneath the passenger side glove box. Mine had melted the housing, but imanagd to remove it and unweld stuff sufficiently to get it going again. It doesnt do the interim ssettings but will clear the screen and trun off so I'm fine with that.
