no just the whining noise but does sound loud through the screwdriver test but i dont know how loud an altinator should sound internal?

i think its coming from alternator? its a whizzing sound coming from the aux belt i know this as i have removed and sound dissapears i did a screw driver test and its louder on alternator than it is on the tensioners but can a alternator make whizzing noise if buggered? i dont wanna buy new alt if it turns out to be a tensioner? many thanks anyone

hi i have today removed my auxillary belt that controlls power steering, altinator, etc the whizzing stopped when i started car is there any common problems with the 2.0 hdi xsara diesel w reg there is many tensioner rollers but only 1 plastic one? do i assume that the plastic one is the likely to be faulty also how the hell do you remove the tensioner and the adjusterbal tensioner as i have spent all night trying to do this to get the belt off the engine is so close to the side of car!!!!!! even when i get spanner on the tensioner i cant undo due to tensioner moving up and down i managed to break some kinda fuel filter pipe too by trying!!! so i need a new filter too any help welcome

citroen xsara hdi 2.0 diesel w reg hatch its in the engine bay central to the right of the power steering its got diesel in it two pipes coming off the top i broke one off what do i ask for when buying new? is it some kind of diesel filter? the top screws off when pipes detatched cheers

cheers jonno i stripped it down today and found the wheel bearing to be stuck solid so fitted new bearing and all fine cheers

hi my xsara 2.0 hdi diesel on a w plate has accured a grinding sound. i thought my brakes had gone as it sounds just like the sound of worn out pads. i remove wheels on front and the passenger side wheel is hard to turn and the drivers wheel spins freely i thought maybee caliper was sticking so i removed to see if it was that but it wasnt. its as though its in gear but isnt is this the diff? i thought maybee wheel bearing seased but if i turn the wheel an inch clockwise and an inch anticlock wise it seems to be free up for an inch of turnthen stops again? if it is the diff does anyone know of a gearbox forsale for this model? cheers for any help

may have made a big mistake today i have bought some alloys made to fit ford escort but i know there the right stud patern i have worked out that ford wheels are usually about 38 offset and i think the xsara is about 20 offset? is this correct if it is correct can i get 20mm spacers as this seems rather big ? the bore size doesnt matter as the alloys have a removable ring so it will fit bigger bore hubs many thanks in advance

hi again i had pump off today and it seemed to be blocked as i could blow through one side easy and other side no chance i managed to clear with a pin but still same can any one tell me how it actually works as i thought there should be two pumps to control two windows? seems unusual to me

many thanks i have had a look and i seem to have 1 over sized bolt in the end of gearbox so must be that one so i will fill it cheers

hi all removed gearbox today on xsara 2.0d s reg all went fine but lost a bit of gearbox oil when i have fitted the new clutch and put everything back together where do i top the gearbox up? and how much as i didnt see a dip stick or any where to fill it? cheers for any advice

my xsara s reg squirter seems to squirt the front window when i try to squirt rear window? front works fine the rear squirter use to work fine but recently has started doing front window any ideas?

hi many tyhanks for reply i happened to have had a good look today at whats involved and i did notice there was stacks of room to do it but i also did notice that the drive shaft on drivers side inner was not a usual type to what i have removed before it seems to be some kind of block at the end instead of a joint any idea if this is gonna cause complications? cheers
