  1. The quote was in SEK, 5000 SEK is roughly €500, I used € since I figured it would be easier to figure out than the rather unknown SEK. (500 SEK is £40)
  2. I won't know for sure until I pull the cluster out and look. I hear the stepper motor when it tries to return the needle back to zero when I slow down. Since the needle is already below zero I hear clicking from the (what I believe) is a broken gear/pin (plastic details). If the motor is out, I will try the rev motor. Thanks for the tip.
  3. Thanks a bunch, I will give it a try this weekend! Just getting it out and have a good look at it would be a big step forward in resolving the problem. The problem I think I have is either a plastic gear that the teeth broke on, or a pin that I have read C5 owners replacing. With some luck, it just came out of alignment, otherwise I may invest in a old cluster and use parts from it. Just feel like replacing the whole cluster when a plastic part is broken is like getting a new car when the ash tray is full...
  4. Hi -- Last week my speedometer stopped working. I asked a shop in town how it would be to fix it. I got quoted €500 (I'm in Sweden). I am curious, has anyone in this forum successfully removed and re-installed the instrument cluster on a C5? I want to have a look at the pin I believe is broke inside the speedometer, but in order to do that, I need to remove the cluster. Had it cost €200 to fix it, without having to replace the instrument panel I would have been more than happy. --- Found somebody who fixed the problem on his C5 --- Managed to find a car enthusiast who lives 20 minutes from me, will contact him and either have him help me, or pay him to fix it for me. It's a small world. -- Update #1, Speedo works again -- Yesterday I removed the instrument cluster and swapped the rev counter motor and the speedo motor and put it all back after calibrating the speedo. The guy who provided me with the description was really nice and has offered to fix the failed motor for me so I can have both rev counter at speedo working at the same time. Decided to give it a go myself, since I finally figured out how it needed to be done. I believe the motors look different on the 2001 and 2002 models, the one I have is simpler in its design. --- Picture of the stepper motor with the metal pin I put in to hold the gear wheel (far left) --- The speedo and rev meter now both work. http://www.ringen.net/~mlu/citroen/steppermotor.jpg
  5. Had the same problem on my 2001 C5 V6. The servo motor needed to be replaced, otherwise the control for the hot/cold air will be next to non-existant after a while. Repair ran £160, covered by warranty (used car warranty is three months in Sweden where I am).
  6. Had the same problem on my C5 V6 -01, the servo controlling the driver side temperature mix had to be replaced. Not only once, but twice, the first time the mechanic used the wrong type of servo, which caused me two visits to the shop. The whole thing cost me ~ £160. For at least 5 hours of labor plus parts and free loaner car that must be considered a fairly decent price. (I am in Sweden but the swedish Citroën forum can't handle new registrations at the moment). /Magnus ----- Citroën C5 V6 -01 owner
