Hi -- Last week my speedometer stopped working. I asked a shop in town how it would be to fix it. I got quoted €500 (I'm in Sweden). I am curious, has anyone in this forum successfully removed and re-installed the instrument cluster on a C5? I want to have a look at the pin I believe is broke inside the speedometer, but in order to do that, I need to remove the cluster. Had it cost €200 to fix it, without having to replace the instrument panel I would have been more than happy. --- Found somebody who fixed the problem on his C5 --- Managed to find a car enthusiast who lives 20 minutes from me, will contact him and either have him help me, or pay him to fix it for me. It's a small world. -- Update #1, Speedo works again -- Yesterday I removed the instrument cluster and swapped the rev counter motor and the speedo motor and put it all back after calibrating the speedo. The guy who provided me with the description was really nice and has offered to fix the failed motor for me so I can have both rev counter at speedo working at the same time. Decided to give it a go myself, since I finally figured out how it needed to be done. I believe the motors look different on the 2001 and 2002 models, the one I have is simpler in its design. --- Picture of the stepper motor with the metal pin I put in to hold the gear wheel (far left) --- The speedo and rev meter now both work. http://www.ringen.net/~mlu/citroen/steppermotor.jpg
