  1. Does the ball joint tapered end go directly into metal or is there a rubber bush? A new ball joint does not seem to have a washer or bush. My old one seems to have a rubber bush as in picture. The right one seems to be damaged. Or is that just a rubber washer? Where do I get that if anyone knows the part number please. I had a spring replaced and now have a tracking error as car is pulling right. Thought I would have this fixed first and then set the tracking. Thank you in advance.
  2. I have an intermittent problem on a 2002 Citroen C3 1.4 HDi SX. The car engine cuts out while driving and have since isolated this to it happening once engine reaches 3000rpm. Thought it was a possible security issue with key fob but have since seen it on both keys and after re-initaillising the ECU. Car always restarts after cutout! Used to stall while changing gears originally but now it seems that the increased engine speeed was the problem. Looks likeI need the diagnostics read ...just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Car was serviced just 2000 miles back and seems ok otherwise. 65000 miles on clock. So if I start the car and rev it up slowly, now it always fails once it hits 3000rpm...just cuts out and engine ligt comes on. Start again immediately and it is fine as far as I don't rev the engine. Now it is reproduceable.... last week it wasnot. Had Citroen look at diagnostics and shows nothing! Says intermittent fault and they couldn't replicate problem. May be a speed sensor. Found PO654 and PO339. Int fault, signal short between two wires or open circuit. I asked for the Speed sensor to be replaced. Fault has not re-occured for 2 weeks now so we may have found it.
  3. I have a similar intermittent problem. I have found that the transponder in the key may be the culprit. Next time it happens, try putting key in ignition, then pressing the alarm lock button. This resets the device and then my car starts! Still have to figure out which bit is faulty! I still have to isolate it in case it is one of the keys. Keep me posted!
  4. So the engine turns etc, but the immobiliser stops it firing? Is this the electronics in the key which stops the car if a copied key is used? Thanks
  5. I have an intermittent problem where the car doesn't start even though it is warm. Symptoms are like there is no fuel being injected...nothing firing, no smoke. Diagnostics show intermittent power fail to injectors. I suspect either this or a locked pressure release solenoid. Anyone experienced this? It has now been working fine for a few weeks but I never know when it will stop! I arranged to get it towed, and of course it started! It has only happened once so far. At a loss to decide what next ......don't want to be stranded at some ungodly hour in the rain but without a hard fault, I am stuffed!
  6. Diagnostics should tell where the fault is. Mine suspected the COMM 2000 unit (the plastic tank unit that holds the indicators etc under the steering wheel airbag). That didn't fix it. Then it turned out that the wire loom under the seat had a problem because it was loose. Someone had managed to snap off all the clips! Moving that to a bit more secure position has fixed the airbag issue for now. By the way, MOT doesnot require air bag to be functional!
  7. I had a similar problem. ECU could be the problem. They had to replace that as well as the motor. I have kept the motor for spare to check. Mine was intermittent, so it would work and stop with no logic. It also used to park in strange places! Are you in London...then may be able to do some tests on the motor.
  8. More info: The problem is a soft ware bug. Started working again and then stopped after a few days. Occasionally see the wiper move on ignition on! Motor etc is all fine. This should be interesting.
  9. Was working fine till I switched car off. On restart, wiper is dead! Fuse (30A) is ok. Anyone aware of any quirks with this one? Car is 5 yrs old. Circuit diagram doesn't quite make sense. Symptoms indicate possible earth or control problem
