  1. when I pull the control stick towards me the rear wash/wipe is activated. If I rotate the small section on the end of the stick again the rear wash/wipe is activated.

Has anybody else experienced this problem?

    How is it fixed?

This could be a mojor problem as I assume no front screen washer will be an MOT failure.

    Thanks.

There's a posting on here about the washer pump and explains it quite well.

As I remember, the pump rotates one way to power the front washers and the other way to power the rear washer.

Anyhow the most likely cause is a problem in the washer pump which I think is located behind the liner in the front offside wing (at the bottom of ther washer bottle).

Some say that using anything other than Citroen screenwash fluid can cause the seals to swell and cause the issue.

  2. On the C5 estate the rear screen has a push button to open it. It works on a solenoid within the tailgate. My rear screen has started to spring open whenever the driver's door is opened or closed. At the moment I'm living in Spain and it's not easy to converse with Spanish Citroen. Does anyone know the part number of the solenoid?

I had exactly the same trouble with my rear screen when I bought it last year and as a temporary fix I have simply removed (pulled) the two wires from the solenoid. I also have another tailgate related fault in as much that the rear wash wipe does not work ... unless I also have the heated rear screen on. I suspect the fix for both problems will be a broken wire (possibly the earth) coming down to the tailgate glass in the hinged section, but will wait until the weather improves before investigating properly.

  3. ....... is it possible I've blown the speakers or is this a fault anyone else has come across it's driving me nuts as it's rendering the sound system useless! Car is an 02 C5 2.2 HDi Exclusive, 75k

It's unlikely that youve blown all the speakers at once - Use the balance and fade controls to move the sound around the cabin and you should locate the quadrant which is blown. Then use the tone to determine if you've blown a mid-range or a tweeter.

although from your description it sounds like you've blown the outputs on the Amplifier - which means a new head unit

... nice motor ... got the same myself

  4. My 54 VTR estate also has under seat storage,(Second hand to me)

Does anyone know if the drawer is deep enough to put a cd changer in.

I'm going to have to have a tour of my local scrappers and see if there's any about.

My 02 plate 2.2 HDI Exclusive has a Clarion 6CD Changer hanging under the drivers seat - I wouldn't think there is enough height to fit any CD Unit in the tray as the bare CD Changer only just squeezes in. I would look at fixing some inverted "U" shaped brackets to the seat base to hold the CD Changer in place.

  5. Hi !

I have the manual that came with the car (translated)

and I'm looking for the full manual (not the technical one).

Could you direct me to an online site or a web page with info ?

    Thank you

    D.

The C5 Owners Handbook is around 200 pages (Handbook comes from a 2002 model)

I have scanned the first 30-odd pages, trimmed & rotated the images and uploaded it to http://www.technobabel.co.uk/c5_000-032.zip

I will continue to scan the rest as time permits.

.....and the next section is up at

  6. Thanks, but I already tried that. Halfords list the fixing kit as code 3041. But The Roof Box Company say the kit is code no. 3008, and they are £38 cheaper for the complete set including feet and aero bars. They also do specials on roof boxes and bars for about £250 all in.

Is there anyone who has actually fitted Thule bars and knows which is the correct kit?

According to THULE UK you need

    Gutterless Foot Pack 750

    Bars - 120cm 761 or T Track (Aero) Bars - 120cm 861

    Rapid Fitting Kit 1223

Click here for the Thule Website C5 Saloon 01 onwards

Hmmmm..... just done another search and it came up with these options for 00-07 models

    Fixpoint XT Low 753

    Bars - 108cm 760 or T Track (Aero) Bars - 108cm 860

    Rapid Fixpoint Kit 3041

    Link to Thule Rapid system

    I guess they don't know either ;)

  7. ... I am looking at Thule as they seem popular, with lots of attachment options. The problem I have is choosing the correct fixing kit.

If you pop down to your local Halfords, they have a flip chart in the roof bars area, detailing which roof bars they sell that will fit (Halfords, Paddy Hopkirk & Thule), and for Thule, which fixing kit is required, as well as the length of the bars needed for your vehicle.

I used Thule Bars on a Xantia estate and they were noisy - because of the adjustment slots under the bar - Tape them up and it cuts down wind whistle.

Thule Roof bars will normally support 100 KG which is no better than Paddy Hopkirk (Cheaper Bars)
