    Wipe & Wash

Hi, Could be that the pump is full of that much crud and stopped working. The additional load therefore blowing the fuses. If you can tap it whilst is supposed to be working it might give a clue, or take it out and inspect to see if it is sticking. Could also be corroded connections on the pump. Check the conditions of the connectors and spray with WD40. Sorry I cannot be of further help. Aza
  2. Hi All, My 2000 1.9D @94k miles has recently developed a very bad vibration when accelerating, going up hill etc. It is more prevalent in the 2500-3000rpm range using 3rd to 5th gear. Indeed the gear stick moves quite considerably when it occurs but yet there is no loss in power from the stand still and there is no vibration or engine misfire with the held clutch in. The vibration does not affect the steering. My thought process so far: Head gasket - No, because a misfire/vibration doesn't happen on tick over nor do I have the mayonnaise on the oil filler cap or mysterious consumption of water Gearbox - No, because it I think it would happen in all gears and speeds. Plus would it be difficult to engage gear? So, is it: Blocked injectors? Clogged fuel filter? Clogged Air filter? Engine mounts? Or something more sinister? I was at the back of the queue when it came to dishing out car mechanic knowledge so any guidance/experiences would be appreciated. Many thanks, Aza
  3. A happy new year to all, and the new year kicks off with a new problem. Having now suffered with a duff battery for a while I decided that enough was enough. The old one even though held 12v it could not start the car. On the last attempt it did not have enough juice to turn the engine but as I turned off the iginition the speedo plumbitted to zero, clicked a bit and then a small click from the fuse box was heard; this was the 30A fuse that is in the sun roof circuit blowing. I thought strange but anything goes with electrics, Having fitted a new battery (the car now starts!) I fitted a new fuse, only for this to blow on ignition switch on. Obviously this doesnt take a genius to point out a have a major short but the question is how? Looking at the Haynes manual the BSI is in circuit. Surely this couldn't have gone because of a duff battery? Any thoughts? Thanks, Aza
  4. Hi all, Mum has been the proud owner of a W reg 1.9 D forte for the past year. Everything was fine until recently when 1. The interior lights (any of them) do not come on when opening the doors but each can be overridden using the switch on the light. 2. The door open warning light remains on even though they are firmly shut, and 3. Occasionally, but it seems after a speed bump or at low revs the battery charging light comes on with a audible 'beep' Like most I do not appreciate dealer serivces or prices so I would like to hunt the faults myself. Reading through the forums the BSI seems to the source of numerous electrical faults. Has anyone else suffered with these niggles and/or can advise? Many thanks Aza
