  1. Thank you Brad1... under normal circumstances it does correct itself in a minute or two, but on this occasion it was acting the 'goat' and as stubborn as a mule :o

I did call Citroen Slough and as far as they are aware, this is NOT a commom Pluriel problem but similar problems exist within the other marks. Disconnecting the battery was nothing but a REBOOT of the on board computer and they suggested a trip to the dealer for a diagnostic hookup and possibly caused by a faulty sensor or similar...

I have no problem with visiting the dealer, but would hate to make that a regular money spinning venture for them at my expense!

I'd be interested to know if 'rebooting' the on board computer system corrects the problem.

Let me know if you don't mind.

  2. Hi again...

Just an update, this morning the car would not engage gear due to the on-going fault/flashing snowflake issue... occasionally it will engage forward gears but not reverse with the continuous error beeps and the audible gear selection mechanism constantly trying to do something...

As a last resort, disconnected the battery and went in for a cuppa... reconnected and initialised the gearbox as per the handbook and now all is well :D with only ONE problem... when is it going to happen again ? is it with kids in the car at some conjested traffic lights ? or ever again ?

Am I to understand that this is all too common and that all the affected sensodrive owners just accept the fact ???? :) surely not... someone please shed some light on the subject

Have any owners had this problem and got it FIXED ?

Thank you all for your anticipated input...

Wow, that sounds bad if it didn't correct itself after a minute or two. Mine normally returns to normal after a minute (which can seem an eternity if your holding up traffic).

Also i have found that if it happens when facing downhill, I can let the car roll forward slightly and get it in second gear (first is not an option) then off we go (the snowflake still continues to flash for a minute but it changes up the gears normally).

Although it doesn't happen every journey, if it's going to happen it seems to be after driving for 45 mins. It has occurred once or twice when starting from cold but very rare.

Like I said, I have mentioned it to a garage who put it on a fault finding computer and nothing came to light. It wasn't a Citroen garage though, so maybe Citroen garages have more compatible equipment.

  3. Sounds like you've got a good one there.

Yes the clutch will wear out eventually.....but as yet i have not had one they have all been replaced because of judder...and ussually at a much earlier mileage.

Considering the clutch is basically the same unit as fitted in its manual models i would normally estimate its life to be around 60,000 under normal use.

    Thanks.

I have to say the clutch has always juddered (more so on hill starts) so I've kinda accepted it now.

  4. My car is now five year old and got 72000 miles on the clock. Is there a particular point where I would notice the clutch slipping? I've no idea how clutches on sensodrive cars work or whether they wear out as quick as normal cars.

Also my brakes (pads and disks) have only just been repaced which I think is pretty good going.

I've not yet needed to have the exhaust replaced either.

This is my first Citroen and with all of the above plus a service interval of every 20,000 miles (or 2 years) I'm really impressed.

  5. Occaisionally, (usually after driving for an hour or so) when pulling up at a junction, there is a bleeping sound and this flashing snowflake symbol appears on the display. The car then refuses to engage first gear for about a minute and then the flashing stops and everything returns to normal.

Very embarrassing if you're at the front at traffic lights.

This problem has been happening for about 2 years now and although I've mentioned it when the cars in for a service, the garage can't find anything wrong.

    Anyone experienced similar?
