    Tow Bar

Have a read of this - may help ???? http://www.citroenpicasso.org.uk/citroen/i...amp;#entry19698
  3. I too would echo the advice of avoiding second hand tow-bars. You have no idea of the condition of it or it the design changed mid production run. You can always try Towequipe (http://www.towequipe.com/). I have brought two bars from them now and delivery is quick, they have a free technical helpline if you get stuck fitting it (EXPENSIVE to call if you brought from somewhere else!) and are the cheapest I have found in the UK for towbar supply (a quick look shows swan-neck type bars for the Xsara estate starting at about £93 inc. wiring if you include the 5% discount at the checkout!). I like the Swan-neck made by Bosal personally because they look nice (well, as inoffensive as a tow bar can anyway), are an OEM for many of the manufacturers and pretty straight forward to fit (indeed, for the Xsara, the worst bit (removal of the rear bumper) is not required, saving lots of hassle and time). Estimate on it taking 2-4 hours depending upon your skill level and the amount of cups of tea needed etc. If your worried about if it's difficult or not, have a look here at a brief article I wrote for another forum I'm a member of detailing the fit of a bar for a V70 (far more complicated than the Xsara): http://www.dervhead.com/xmb/viewthread.php?tid=6595 Finally, here's a list of the fitting instructions for Xsara estates for the various types of tow bar - they are (IMHO) far easier to fit that the instructions would make out! http://www.catalogue.bosal.com/pages/tow_c...ara&body=04 Best of luck.
  4. Hello - can anyone help with info on how to adjust the height of the headlights on a 1998 (pre-facelift) Xsara plaese? They are already set on the maximum height via the electical height adjustment and both seem to be far too low (I can drive on main beam and not dazzle people!) but the Haynes manual merely states "take it to a Citroen garage" ... all in all not very helpful. Thanks in advance, John
  5. Well, decided to change everything as although the car has some service history it's sketcy at best and it's previous owner used it as a tractor (it seems) on a farm in Wales. When I got it not much worked on it (doors, boot locks, heater etc.) and have fixed all that - this is the last thing to do to get it back to tip top condition. So, went and brought everything (inc. all the oil) for a little under 40€ (£25) and boy did those filters and oil need need changing !! Having also given the last tanl of diesel a liberal dose of injector cleaner it's now running a complete treat - no smoke on startup, and the engine as lively as when it left the factory. She may be getting on a bit but there's plenty of life left in the old warhorse yet!
  6. Thanks - just wanted to make sure was not missing anything.
  7. Hi, Does anyone know the items that need to be checked/changed on a Xsara 1.9 TD (1998) XUD? I seem to have lost the service book/schedule, so want to make sure that I don't miss anything .... Thanks, John
