Sorted it now. Got somebody to push gently from the inside while i pulled on the handle from the outside, it came open no problem. I sprayed the lock area with WD40 and applyed a bit of light oil to the working about 30 mins later. Touch wood, it's been ok since.

I had this problem on my 53 plate VTR HDi estate, it opened after i had somebody push gently from the inside while i pulled from the outside, took the child locks off as soon as it opened just in case it was this that had been part of the problem. I had a go at the locking with doors/boot open etc but it didn't seem to work. As soon as it opened i gave the door lock area a good spray with wd40 and put a bit of machine oil in the working to lube it all up.

I have a 2003 vtr 2.0l hdi estate, yesterday afternoon I went to open drivers side rear door and it would open, I tried all manner of combinations of doors/bonnet/boot open, using key fob, using key only but nothing would open it. The child lock is on the door so it won't open from inside. Am I going to have to remove the door liner and hit things with hammers before it opens?
