  3. Hello, I have not been on here for a long time, this is because my c5 has been faultless for years now. I needed. A second car for work and could not find a nice c5 for the money I had. So I bought a xsara 53reg which is minted. My question is the xsara is a 2.0hdi 110 bhp, is this the same engine as my c5 2.0hdi 110bhp, the reason I ask is the xsara is more expensive to tax. Also the xsara is an automatic and I feel it needs the ATF changed, I have looked everywhere on the gearbox and can see where to drain the oil but can't see where to refill it, there is no dipstick to check the level either. Any help will be great. Thanks Dixie.
  4. thanks coastline, i must read the replys more carefully in future, i now have my speedo working again  . but broke 3 of the white pins bending them to the side :( . thanks again for the great reply. cheers dixie......
  5. thanks for the replys, i can do without a rev counter so i think i will go down that road for now, so does that mean i can buy a stepper motor later on after xmas from a scrappy and fit it to the rev counter and keep the correct mileage on the speedo as it has f.s.h. and all mot's ect. to back it up. thanks dixie....
  6. hi guys, my speedo has stopped working on my 2.0 hdi, but it is still registering trip and total miles as usual. any ideas? thanks dixie.....
  7. cheers guys, who needs a haynes manual when we have you. fatgut is there any chance you can post a link to the yahoo forum, i cant find it every time i try it brings me back to here  . and yes it was a pain to change the numberplate bulb. cheers Alan.
  8. thanks for the replys, citroen phoned about 4pm yesterday to let me know i have a ML5T gearbox so i phoned and let the factors know who ordered one and it was here at 10am this morning. it was a easy job, took about 1hr to fit. well chuffed. the difference in the 2 boxes is one has 24 splines on the abs the other has 48 (so citroen told me). now for the other niggles, after doing a search on here i found out the rear window on the estate opens  . well mine doesnt and it does not seem to be closed properly, i am scared to force it as it feels like it will shatter. am i correct in thinking the button is at the bottom back of the wiper mounting, and is it electric or mechanical, the reason i ask is the rear wiper does not work and i am hopeless at anything electrical. i have only had the estate about 2 months, i have had my saloon for 4 years and only had to change a number plate bulb for one of the mot's. great forum. thanks Alan.
  9. thanks paul for the quick reply, i tried euro car parts this morning and they no longer stock them, and just phoned gsf with no joy. i have managed to find a company that will do a recon one but only the ML5T so f i can find out what gearbox is in the car i may be lucky. i have looked all over the gearbox and cant find any numbers on it, if anyone can tell me where to look or how to find out what box is in it that would be a big help. thanks again Alan.
  10. hello all, i am a new member and this is my first post. i have 2 c5s (his and hers) mine is a 02 reg hdi 110 saloon, and my good lady has a 02 reg hdi 110 estate. the cv joint is knocking really bad on the estate, i have tried almost everywhere with no luck in getting one. most of the motorfactors can give me a price for one but cannot get one  citroen dont do a cv joint but will sell me a full driveshaft for £200. i have found a company that will do a recon unit if i tell them what gearbox is in the car, i think there are 2 different manual boxes fitted in that year. i phoned citroen and was told to take it to a dealer. on my saloon to get reverse you lift the coller and push the gearstick away and up. on the estate you pull it toward you and down. can anyone tell me what type is in the estate from that description and has anyone ever had a cv joint go and how did they replace it? genuine citroen or motor accessory dealers. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks Alan.
