  1. I'll add an <aol> Me too </aol> to this one  Mine's been doing it for years now - a 2001 reg ... it's intermittent at best, and seems to be related to the suspension pump as it flickers as I start to hit motorway speeds (the hunkering down thing) and occasionally flickers if I'm going over rougher-than-I'd-prefer roads ...
  2. I'm going to suggest the obvious one - try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes ... see if that doesn't bring you some joy ... No idea what might have caused it though (push comes to shove - the displays show up on ebay from time to time for about £20 and are a quick 'n' easy swap, but somehow I don't think the display is the problem here :( ) P
  3. Actually - you do have a trip computer, you just can't see it :) Find a friendly breakers yard, and have a look 'round .. you should be able to get the B display (multifunction / multi-line display) ... it's a quick and easy swap (two torx T20 screws, and a little plug) ... once it's in, and you've reconnected the battery, you get your trip computer !!
  4. I just had a look in the service handbook from my C5 - HDi engines are at 100k miles for normal wear, or 80k for severe ... Hope that gives you good news <_<
  5. I can't comment on the HDi change interval - my manual's a few miles away !! but http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=7920 has an interesting formula :
  6. From peoples' descriptions elsewhere - it would seem that the rain / daylight sensors are on the top end of the windscreen, somewhere near the rearview mirror ?? If so - what are the four little lens-like dots on the drivers' side (RHD) of the windscreen ... they have a formation like [. o 0 O]
  7. I'll chime in with a big "me too" here :o) My 2001 C5 does it - but only if parked on a strange slope or with the wheels off-centre ... it doesn't seem to do it if I leave the wheels straight. (By "strange slope" I mean one where, say, the front nearside wheel is much higher than the rest of the wheels - we have some strangely laid out parking spaces in the office ... I've learned to avoid that one !)
  8. Useful to know ... is there a way of configuring that without the effort of finding a dealer ? My friendly dealers closed down a while back ... and I'm not too sure about the various new car-supermarket type dealers here ... (Ireland doesn't really have a good independant network in that sense - given most mechanics here see something that's not a Toyota or a VW and run a mile !)
  9. Like many - My [2001 reg] C5 was a basic spec model, enough toys to keep me happy, and a low price to keep SWMBO happy too ... However - after time, the single-line dash display (radio chan + time only) was starting look rather dated, so on to ebay I went :) Got an "écran multifunction B" (the multiline display) - and swapped it in, a simple operation involving removing the cowelling (a flat blade gently inserted at the left and rightmost 'corners' of the hard plastic - there are two retaining lugs that will pop out .. The display then unscrews (two Torx T20 screws) and slides out. One quick swapover later (involving finding three functional backlight bulbs (No. 286 in halfords IIRC) and I've now got the multifunctional display including fully operational trip computer. It seems that many of the C5's functions are generic, and built into even the base spec models, and simple upgrades like this effectively increase the spec level a touch .. Next job - enable the fog lamps which, while fitted and wired up in the main headlight clusters, aren't enabled in the com2000 unit. I've a spare com2000 unit from a higher spec car (breakers yards are good !) and will have a go at swapping it in sometime over the next few weeks !) So, if your C5 is lower spec than you'd like - and you have access to breakers yards .. off with you to find some simple-to-fit upgrades ... What else have you done to the C5 to make it a little more comfortable ?
