front seats haven't been moved, the drivers seat has a multi cd under it, wonder if its vibrated or something, is the connector under the drivers seat?

Finally sorted the tyre sensor problem, it turns out that the problem wasn't with the sensor, I had 2 new front tyres put on and one of them was leaking air from the seal, a tip a friend gave me was to blow the tyres up 10lb above the recommended and then let the air down back to where it should be - this worked and its been fine for 3 weeks. Now another dam sensor has tripped since its got cold and its the airbag sensor - intermittent as it only triggers when cold - Think what annoys me is that the readout does not tell you where the problems is ie; which airbag or which tyre. I was on the verge of getting rid of the car but it drives really well, if anything major goes wrong it will have to go.

As I understand it the option to turn off the sensors is for the Mk 2. I looked into this for my mark 1 and it could not be done. There was a time when the sensors were as little as £25 for OEM when they were £125 from Citroen, look on eBay or via the specialist tyre sensor on line shops.. I had two fitted. For fuel consumption reasons (we discussed on here a while back) it was found to be advantageous to run the tyres up to 10% over the recommended pressure or to run with the heavy load/high speed settings. Get a digital tyre pressure gauge on eBay. Find a good indy to do the job. A Citroen franchise won't be interested in you bypassing their £125 earner. Thanks for that, saved me the trouble of going to Citroen, just bought a digital gauge from ebay and will do the 10% or heavy load and match the tyre pressures, if it comes on then will just put up with it, hopefully will sort it out, lovely car just so annoying these stupid little things, funny had a citroen picasso for years and no trouble at all, had this one a few weeks and one thing after another, having said that there is 5k difference in price paid!!!

Thanks for that, my home tyre pressure pump may not be accurate to 4lb so it may be slightly out so will double check that at the tyre place when next in, may be an option to get them switched when i next need tyres to standard fittings then if getting them disabled isn't too expensive? Paid less than 1k for the car and she drives lovely plus i can get all my fishing gear in and pull the caravan (its an estate) so would be silly to lay out loads of money - doubt it would fail its MOT with just the service light on though, not like the other fault i had with the engine management light on (now fixed)

I have an intermittent tyre deflation warning Have checked the tyres but all are correct, have recently had 2 new front tyres but as the warning just says tyre(s) deflated it doesn't indicate which one. The warning bleeps once and comes on then after half to one mile goes off and stays off for a good while then does the same again. The code reader i have does not show any faults on it. I understand that the sensors are quite expensive then the car has to go to the dealers to be input on to the system (only from reading on the net) and as the car is quite old 2004 diesel mk1 its hardly worth it - just annoying!! if its just a sensor- sensors is there anyway of turning them off? Have in my previous postings about other faults been able to resolve them from advise on hear which i thank you guys for.

OK finally sorted it, decided to have a look at the EGR valve and leaned on the engine, then noticed the rubber tube to the egr had a small crack in about 1/4 inch in, the crack was right the way through so cut a small chunk off and sorted.

Check wires to the fuel cap and all seems ok, saw some DPF fluid in Halfords while picking up some oil and thought maybe would put some in, won't harm. Driven 400 miles yesterday and today, stop start then belting down the motorway, no light on so far, may be a coincidence will see.

Yes checked that it has 2 magnets one at each side, checked them if they worked as magnets too
-
Gave the fuel cap a good clean and the kneck but didn't make any difference, contacted the previous owner and he now says that he had a mate do all the servicing and only the MOT's were done at garages, think he is getting sick of me asking questions now so better not trouble him any more, it was a very cheap car so can't push him.

Thanks John, further email he will charge me another £100 for removing the filter, but then he tells me although he is advertising he is in my area he actually isn't but uses an "agent" to program so in other words its a franchise and to get the filter removed i have to take the car 200 miles - am not fit enough to crawl under the car so have dismissed this idea. I will just go with my original idea and try one thing at a time, seems a lot just to turn the light off.

Have just had an email from a man that does remapping and he sent me this email, does the price sound right? Hi we can dpf and egr delete this also a light tune price would be £250 You would have to cut dpf fillter out I hope he means he will cut the dpf filter out not me!

Time to take the bulb out!!! ;) That had crossed my mind, bet i would have to strip the front of the car to get at the bulb!!! -

If you're considering a remap, Carlisle can't be to far from you. I know nothing about this guy, other than he's Polish.....http://www.chip-it-performance.co.uk/?page=about_us It was a Polish guy who removed my particle filter and did my remap. It's made the engine more lively and improved the torque for when I tow my caravan. Hi John have just rung the man up and he has looked on his diagnostics software and it doesn't cover Citroens - shame he is quite near

Here is an interesting find!! - did an MOT history check, not sure why but just did. No Failure but 2009 Advisory EML light on 2010 Advisory EML light on 2011 (no advisory) 2012 EML light on 2012 EML light on 2013 No advisory the car has done 40,000 miles since the 1st Advisory now at 130,000 - so am thinking when the car was taken to the garage it was cleared then came back on, the previous owner has had loads done but never cured. Have i got a cat in hells chance of finding the problem - doubt it! Should i be worried? Will i end up with a remap just to clear the light? Plus now the warning lights come into MOT will it fail next time?

starting to hate the electronics on the C5 after having 10 years trouble free motoring on my picasso!! but I bought it so am determined to sort it!! As i didn't pay a lot for my C5 and will be using it to carry my fishing gear around (should have bought a van!) I would like to start with the simple things first 1) have cleaned the kneck of the fuel filler and cleaned the filler cap. Will have a run out today and see how this goes Next will look at the Mass Air flow as its the next least expensive if i have to replace it ( can someone again explain when it is on the car) Thanks I know where the egr is now so will look at that too at the weekend. Anything else while im working though things? There is no one near me who can re map the ECU or that would probably be the answer in the end as the car is still running 100% no limp mode no rough running - bloody computers!!

Thanks its the first time anyone has pointed towards the fuel filler cap thats interesting, the story was that he filled up and left his cap behind at the fuel station, drove off and then the light came on, he returned back to pick up the cap but the light then never went off. I will give it a good clean and around the kneck and as you suggest check the wiring, so the story may be correct then but its strange that the light only goes on when its on tickover and then once i reset it its ok till im next on tickover. So if the filler cap needs replacing i have to get a genuine part i guess if its got a reed magnet on although there are filler caps locking and non locking on ebay would it be better to avoid them? The part number on the service site says 1508 J3 or 1508 j4

Hi Thanks will answer your questions Yes the light was on when i bought it, was told that it came on after the fuel cap was left off plus he used only supermarket fuel, whether or not its true i didn't doubt him as the car runs very well, bought a reader and was able to turn the light off but the light comes back on when on very low revs, once turned off it will stay off all day till i get to a situation where the car is ticking over. Yes there is a beep when it comes back on. ok on the domino affect that explains why more than one code comes on, so 0400 is the troublesome code? 0400 relates to the egr but am trying to find out exactly where the egr is on my car, looking from the front of the car although I have seen a diagram it does not point out where it is, hence putting the previous link of the picture of the engine on. You asked what message on the central console "antipollution warning" so egr i guess.

Oh dear - not familiar with it's layout. Sometimes owners stop the EGR system from working by putting a plate in the flange. I believe it sometimes brings on the management light. Plates are like this:- Hi not familiar either maybe someone will come back to us on here, seen the plates though

have uploaded a couple of pics from the front as i think the first one is totally wrong ie; im looking in the wrong area. maybe you will be able to tell from these pics - have taken the top engine covers off http://g4jnw.weebly.com/c5.html

good question - its the 2.2 hdi mk1 diesel DW12TED4 TURBO DIESEL according to the citroen service site VF7DE4HXG76521860 C5 5 DOOR ESTATE 2.2 HDi 136 Manual gearbox 6
-
Hi John, excuse me for being stupid, am i right in thinking the EGR is the one on this picture, thought i knew!! but behind the one i think it is - with the blue plug is another similar on the upper bulkhead. Iam looking on the right of the car as you look from the front near the bulkhead http://g4jnw.weebly.com/c5.html

ok not had time to check it yet but have had a 400 mile trip and its consistant with the error - the engine warning light ONLY comes on when iddling. The car pulls well and runs well, but when i come to a standstill and its idlling the light pops on, done it 3 times during the journey, once at a traffic light and twice while waiting to pick someone up. Everytime have knocked the light off with my code reader so hope this narrows it down a bit. Same codes everytime as previously reported. Have continued to fill/top up with BP ultimate.
-
interesting what you say about supermarket fuels as on another thread i have been talking about the C5 2004 2.2hdi i have just aquired, The man who owned it before me has always used supermarket fuel but has had a problem with the engine warning light coming on, he says it was worse on morrisons fuel, am really suspecting the supermarket fuels for his problems. I have filled up yesterday with BP ultimate to see if there is any difference then thought after reading this thread which is better - using expensive BP ultimate or equivelant OR going for the cheaper fuel and putting something like millers in? Whats in millers and whats in BP ultimate - is it the same addative? I did realise that ultimate was expensive when i paid £88 for a fill!!!! My previous car, picasso diesel never got treated to the expensive stuff and i never had problems with lights coming on but did notice a difference in power when i was pulling my caravan after filling up with supermarket diesel then filling up with standard BP/ESSO etc standard fuel

thanks will probably be a week before i can check but will feedback when i get chance
