  1. Hi, Sorry for the slow reply... I had another look under the glovebox for the mysterious rectangular shaped box, but I can't find any. To the right of the heater blower motor is a solid mass of plastic will no obvious means accessing it. I'm starting to think my van doesn't have a pollen filter, which is a shame as I have a nice new one sitting here. Thanks
  2. Hi, I have just bought a replacement air filter & pollen filter for my Berlingo van (HDI 2002). According to the Haynes manual the pollen filter is located under the passenger glovebox. I have checked under there & all I can find is a cylindrical plastic thing which hangs down. The van doesn't have air conditioning. Is it possible that is doesn't have a pollen filter? Thanks
  3. Thanks. Yes, I does seem to be a bit of a grey area. Still, the one you linked to is pretty cheap, so not a big loss if it doesn't work. -R
  4. Hi, Could someone please recommend a diagnostic scanner (preferably under £50) which will work with my Berlingo HDI 2002 (deisel) old shape van. A lot of scanners say in their spec they work with all deisel models from 2004 onwards, but with earlier models its not so clear. Will my van be OBD2 compatible? My local mechanic hooked his machine to my van, but he couldn't get a reading. He said that happens sometimes. So if I'm buying one myself I want to make sure its compatible. Thanks -R
  5. Hi, I'm looking for an upper engine cover for my old shape 2002 Berlingo HDI van, does anyone know of a good source for this kind of part, preferably used? I've tried lots of scrappies & ebay, but with no luck, they seem to be like gold dust! Its really annoying since the original one was lost by the local council when they did the MOT on the van. I'm currently trying to get a replacement out of them, but that might not transpire. Out of interest, how important is it to have an engine cover? Thanks, -R
  6. I'll remember this in case it happens again. Cheers.
  7. Yes, I thought that as well, but I'm sure the immobiliser feature must have been disabled in my van. The reason being that it was kitted out with replacement armour plated locks, so the original ignition key must have been replaced.
  8. Hi Terry, It cranked over at a normal speed, but failed to fire. It didn't even get close to firing, just a constant cranking sound. I must have tried to start it around 5 times, all with the same result. I didn't look at the battery light at the time, do you think it could be a flat battery? I'm pretty sure the battery light doesn't come on during normal driving, will double check this though. If it makes any difference, the engine must have been cold, as I had driven just half a mile prior to this happening.
  9. Hi, I've just recently bought a 2002 Berlingo HDI 2.0 van, its my first vehicle since passing my test 2 months or so ago, I'm growing quite attached to it already, super practical & great for carting my outdoor kit to far flung places. Its been running faultlessly since buying it, however last night something weird happened. I had to temporarily park on the road beside parked cars whilst helping an elderly relative out the van, the hazards were switched on & I took the key out of the ignition. On returning 30 seconds later I couldn't get the ignition to start the van at all. I tried a few times, changing my technique, lights on, lights off, clutch down, but it was having none of it. I had to resort to pushing it down the street to a safe parking place. I left it for 10 minutes, when I returned it started first time, no probs. Does anyone have any idea why this may have happened? The van has had no problems starting on any other occasion, which makes me wonder whether its a built-in safety feature which I accidentally activated, or some kind of electrical issue. You all seem like knowledgeable Berlingo users, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
