  1. Damn you Mat! you've rumbled me!
  2. Mat - my LCD problem is minor in comparison. Hopefully you'll get it sorted! I've added the LCD issue to my list of problems and will just take it along to the dealer a few months before the Warranty expires. Overall have been very happy with my VTR+ Coupe; Outstanding problems at the moment are; 1. Rattling passenger side window due to the seal/door popping away. I can actually put my fingers between the window and the door frame! I have to squeeze the door back in shape to make it flush with the window. Not ideal... 2. Flickering LCD read out. 3. Steering wheel wobble at 77-80mph... Strictly whilst driving on private land....... I've had two garages attempt to balance the front wheels, but no luck resolving the problem. Read somewhere (possibly here) that C4's are tricky to balance?
  3. The LCD display on my climate control is flickering. I can solve it by changing the backlight level, up or down but I reckon its going to get worse. Before I take it to a Citroen dealer, has anyone else had this problem? Always helps when convincing them there is a known problem.
  4. Ok - got confused by the photos.. sorry fella!... Have to admit your VTS looks very cool lowered! And the tail pipe looks the mutts nuts. Currently Understated Cool rather than loud-brash, Chav'ness..
  5. Looks OK. Alloys wouldn't be my first choice though - Also are you going to colour-code the trim running down the side? Agree neon lights could turn the car into a ChavWagon. I think the day I see a Coup with neons under it, I'll drive straight to the car dealer to sell mine. Chav by association...
  6. Agree that the TT is a bit of a hair-dresser poser car, however the latest model does seem to look a bit more serious and edgy. It certainly has had far better reviews. Agree that the Lotus Exige and VX220/Elise are awesome cars as is the Honda S2000 and the new Alfa Spider looks great. I actually test drove a 2nd-hand VX220 before playing safe and buying a brand new C4 Coupe purely for the comfort levels and the fact it would stand-out less when parked on a street at night. Already had one car nicked and don't want to have to go through that again. The problem I have is that I really want a 2 seater whilst our Government isn't taxing us to hell and back for the right to drive it. I also do very little miles so figure might aswell have something that gets the blood-racing when travelling from a-b. But also need a car that i can fit my snowboard, mountain bike and girlfriend in (in that order :o ) Maybe a Golf GTI is a safe bet?
  7. Thanks Mat! - Will give it a try later today.
  8. I know what you mean. My C4 is starting to rattle, the clutch is feeling a bit dodgey and the passenger side door is popping out along the lower edge of the window (Anyone else have this problem?). And, the cars only done 13K miles in the last 25 months. Its a bit like my Apple Macbook, looks the dogs b*llocks but just doesn't live up to its billing. Had a drive of my mates BMW M1 yesterday. Hate the look of the car but I did get the feeling that the car was rock-solid and a far superior build quality. Think I'm also going to sell my C4 when it hits 3ys old and buy myself something German or Japanese.... Like the look of the new Honda Civic Type R or even flash the cash on a new Audi TT.

Sorry to hear the bad news fella. Can't believe some git damaged/nicked off with your mirror! I had similar bad luck with my passenger mirror this week when I tried to avoid my neighbours wheelie bin whilst trying to reverse out of my garage with some ill fitting contact lenses in. I managed to scar the outer edge of the mirror and bizzarley my door handle against my garage wall. Bl**dy annoying to say the least. The ironic thing was that I was off to the opticians to get the damn contacts sorted..... Should hopefully be able to get the mirror resprayed but the plactic handle is quite deeply scared so not sure how this will be fixed.
  10. I ended up getting my car serviced at a local garage for £70 less than the cheapest Citroen dealer. The engine is purring like a baby. The problem I have is that car still thinks it is due a service. I'm guessing the guys at the garage could not reset the computer. Is there anyway of doing this myself? I've only done 13k miles after 2 years so I have another 7k miles until the service light will prob flash on so its not an urgent problem.
  11. That sounds pricey. On the subject of parts I've got to replace a passenger door handle and wing mirror that got badly scratched this week on my VTR+ coupe. Is it worth calling around when pricing up parts or do all Citroen dealers charge the same price?
  12. I think the clutch on my 25 month VTR+ 1.6i Coupe is starting to show a similar problem. When I pull away I sometimes get a shudder regardless of how smooth I bring the clutch back. It seems to be getting more common as the weeks go by. Ill add this to my growing list of faults.
  13. I had my rear shocks on my C4 coupe changed about 6 months from new. The shocks would make a sort of groaning noise when moving forward slowly and also when reversing. The mechanic isolated the problem within a few seconds of opening the boot and pushing down on the car a few times. Made me think it was a common issue. Not sure if related but if you've not had yours changed I would get them looked at.
  14. Cheers for tip. Anyone know of a good guide for replacing the pads on a C4?
  15. After trying a new battery and the key still not working, I gave the dealer a quick call and asked if they had any further ideas. They didn't. Never being one to give up, I finally resorted to doing something I never do and turned to the manual for help.... First thing I read is that the C4 has a built in warning if it detects a low battery in the key! It'll make a noise, display an error message and light the 'Service' sign. The crucial bit is that after removing/changing the battery, you need to reinitiate the key by putting the key in the ignition and pressing the 'lock' button on the fob. After doing this the key works again! Somehow my key must have lost its 'link' to my car. Moral of story. Read the manual before calling dealer and ordering batteries of ebay!
  16. Yes. It makes a horrendous noise in reverse and a fainter, high pitched screech when braking going forward. I've also noticed at slow speeds the brakes bite far to quickly. Even a feather touch seems to bring the car to a stop. Funny thing, was when testing this I managed to get my girlfriend to head butt the glove box! I wonder why Citroen dropped this from the Warranty - a load of screeching, noisy C4s driving around is not exactly a great advert for them.
  17. I've booked it in. £190 + £20 to get 4 wheels balanced (steering wheel is juddering at around 77mph). The annoying thing, is that I'm also suffering from really bad brake screeching. Read on here that others have had this sorted under warranty but when quizzed my dealer just says its a non-warranty issue. Anyone have a 'Case ID' for this issue?
  18. On subject of servicing. My 05 plate VTR+ coupe is a little over 2 years old. I've only clocked 13K miles so was trying to work out whether I need to have it serviced yet? Is the 20K service based on 20K miles or 2 years?
  19. Good point. I'm surprised Smart do not supply two remote keys? Spoke to my dealer regarding faulty key and they're none the wiser. Ordering a new battery now to see whether it helps.
  20. I'll give the dealer a call and see what they say.
  21. Hi guys and gals, Last week my remote key fob thing suddenly stopped working. I've had my C4 VTR+ Coupe since April 2005 so guessing it could just be a dead battery. What's strange though, is up until it stopped, the key was triggering the locks from a good 20-30m away and there was no sign that the battery was failing. Also, the key works in the ignition so I'm guessing there is some power left? Before I order a new battery or call the dealer, I was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem with their key? Thanks!
