  1. Has anyone fitted the Quinton Hazel BS777 kit to their ZX (subslady lumpute for Lucus Girling) ? Unfortunately, my kit should have been supplied with two internal "star" washers (for want of a better word) that fit under the adjuster blade but they were missing. I phoned QH and they kindly sent me replacements but they are not a tight fit on the scroll pin as they are on the old shoes. This might not matter but I would like conformation before I fit them as, after all, they are as important as everything else in there. Anyone any thoughts ? Kristian.
  2. Hi All, I had to postpone the job until this weekend but I have now succeeded. I still couldn't get as much hight as I would have liked but with the aid of a bench vice, an old lab test tube holder to get the right hight and angle and my trusty punch plus a lead light and a good mirror, I was able with a few blows with a nylon mallet to send the shaft on its way. :) Many thanks for the help. All the best, Kristian. :)
  3. Hi Shemer, Yep, fully released. In fact I removed the nuts from the bolts. Kristian.
  4. Hi John, Thanks for your reply. I did try that but it was a bit difficult to get in the right place as I think the car needs to be higher off the ground to be able to swing the hammer properly. However. I was wondering if I could use my slide hammer with a flat hooked attachment and get it between the tri ax "pot" joint and the support bearing housing and draw it off with that. What do you think the chances of success are ? All the best, Kristian.
  5. Hi All, I am having difficulty removing the off side long driveshaft with the support bearing from the bearing housing. So far the shaft is disconnected from the hub, the support bearing bolts are backed off and the heads disengaged form the shaft. However, it is refusing to come out of the housing. Does anyone have a way of releasing the bearing from the housing witout resorting to large hammer and a punch ? All the best, Kristian.
  6. Hi All, I noticed yesterday that the two lugs securing the top cambelt cover have become brittle and broken off. No problem I thought, just order a new one up from the dealer. However, when I went to pick it up, it was quite a bit different to the one on the car. Apparently, the covers have been revised since our 93 model and it seems that you have to replace all three. The cost is not bad (for Citroen) but there is quite a bit of work involved, especially as I have got PAS. I picked one up from a scrapper, but this a bit frayed around the edges as well. Does anyone know if these have ever been available as an aftermarket part ? Has anyone else had this problem and, if so, how did you resolve it. All the best, Kristian.

    Zx Noise

Hi Shemer, Many thanks for your reply. I will have a closer look at the anti roll bar links. It would be great if it was just that. I was begining to wonder about steering racks and rams which, despite their complexity, are not that expensive by comparision. However, the level of work is quite extensive and I would much rather change the anti roll bar links than the rack ! All the best, Kristian.
  8. Hello, Having just joined, I wonder if anone can help with this. Coincidentally (I hope) since I had a new front tyre fitted and both front wheels balanced, on slight left or right turns of the s wheel when maneuvering what is best described as a momentary impolite noise can be heard from the steering system (power). I jacked it up and had a good look round both sides and can't see anything out of place. On the road it feels like new and handles extremely well due to the new tyre. I have a few theories, which I hope are wrong, but has anyone else actually experienced the same occurance ? Kristian.
