Hello Before i posted here for the first time Did a lot of homework on this topic from several Citroen specialists! History.. Xantia 1.9 TD R plate since purchase April 07 Brand New 2 weeks ago CLUTCH STARTER MOTOR ABS SYSTEM/FLUIDS RING TEETH GEAR FOR STARTER Back to today, Engaging key and starter motor is turning fine, but no engagement to engine just an almighty racket Ring teeth gear has to be the problem?? The ring gear i have been told, has to be literally forged on to its housing with intense heat otherwise it can become "cocked" can anyone here clarify this>? tech detail would be nice The garage isnt able to deal with the problem immediately so i hope to pick up some wisdom and expertise here!! #THINK My problem lies in ring teeth gear not being forged properly am i on the right track? brand new flecks of metal are appearing on the engine chamber from wheel or starter!! The car otherwise is absolutely dandy and drives like a dream.. Are there other avenues to explore at all?? All pearls of wisdom gratefully received Regards John (uk)
