  1. Hi I think it may indicate a fuse problem. I had a similar problem when I inadvertantly removed the wrong fuse. I suggest you check your fuses. Regards
  2. Hi Does anyone know how to adjust the handbrake on a Berlingo 1.6 Multispace 2005 model? Can the cable adjuster :D be easily accessed? Many thanks in anticipation.

Hi Does anyone have any views on what is the best reasonably priced long life engine oil suitable for the above diesel engine? Is it best to purchase the oil filter through a Citroen Dealer rather than a Motor Factor? Are there any other points I should consider in carrying out my own oil change? Many thanks in anticipation :D
  4. I have an issue with my C3 1.4HDI front disc brakes which I wondered wether anyone else may have experienced. The problem is a rubbing noise from the nearside front brake but only after a period of heavy braking when decending fairly long steep hills. The rubbing noise is not present under any other braking conditions and disappears after a short period once the vehicle hits level ground. The pads and discs are in good order (pads and discs were last replaced approx 20,000 miles ago after a similar condition prompted me to put the car into a garage). The garage says the brake caliper is probably sticking but I do not think that is necessarily the case as there are no brake bind indications. Does anyone have anything to add. Is is simple for me to remove the pads?
  5. Has anyone experienced a rather annoying almost continual light vibrating noise which seems to come from the body at the drivers side possibly the door area. It is most pronouce when the vehicle is travelling over any road surface which is less than totally smooth? I find it is difficult to describe otherthan it is like light body panel vibration and appears to be from the drivers side of the car. When the car is driven on a smooth road surface the noise is not present. I have checked the doors etc for security and panel rattles but nothing apparent. If anyone recognises this problem and better still knows the cause then I will be pleased to hear from you.
  6. Many thanks to the two people who replied. The comments are usefull.
  7. Hello What tools do I need to check and if necessary replace the rear brake shoes on my 3 year old C3 1.4Hdi Desire? I am a mechanic but now retired. I note from the Haynes Manual that I will need to purchase new hub nuts and dust caps. Are there any funnies I should know about when removing the drums/hubs and replacing the brake shoes? What size socket do I need for the rear hub nuts? I hope someone can help with this information. Regards
  8. Thanks for your reply I agree with all you have said but do not feel there is a gearchange setting or clutch problem. The drive take up point of the clutch is toward the top of the pedal and has been from new therefore I do not see a problem there. It has also been suggested to me by a local garage that the quantity of oil in the gearbox might be an issue. They led me to believe that there was no level plug on this gearbox and therefore could have been overfilled from new. I have not persued this theory further although I can see the point made that oil quantity may when cold effect gear selection. I am coming to the conclusion that perhaps the gearbox in my C3 has a slight inherent fault which with careful handling for now may not necessarily get any worse in the short term. I am thinking of changing the car this year. Thanks again for your interest.
  9. My C3 is just over three years old has covered 45,000 miles and I have owned from new. I wondered whether anyone has had a similar gear selection experience. Since new and particular during the car warm up period for approximatley the first 5 miles 2nd gear up selection is not always clean. The synchromesh will not work effectively for at least one change during this period. The issue has not worsened since new but consistantly occurs. Down changes are never a problem. All other gear changes are relatively smooth although 1st can appear stiff on occations. The gear change appears to be too delicate. I have raised this with my dealer on at least two occasions but each time when they have checked the gear selection on road test they have not experinced the problems. I find this rather frustrating but it seems I have to accept their findings. It seems to me the gear selection on this car is not robust enough. I find I change gear gingerly to make sure I allow the synchromesh to work. This makes for a slow gear change particularly the up change into 2nd gear. This has become a niggle for me with this car and although I am generally happy with the C3 the gear change issue will put me off buying another. I would be interested to know if anyone else has any similar experiences as up to now my raising of the issue has seemed to suggest it is only my C3 or even it is me being too particular about the gear selection on the C3?
