    Brownie Points

Welcome to the forum Mr Wireless. I am really suprised a 23 year old Panda is/was still on the road, we had one about 19 years ago and it rotted away as we looked at it ! I think your wife will see a huge difference in the drive although perhaps not in the interior. Its still pretty basic in the Rhythm isn't it. The noise I don't think is unpleasant, even at motorway cruising speeds its not bad. Your not destroying the planet cos the Disoc is on LPG. We had a 4.2 Rangie on gas a while back, we loved it, the wife drove a 3.5 V8 LR 90 at the same time. They had to go, having 2 V8s in one family is just too much for the wallet to bear. 8 weeks for a new car ain't bad, we just waited 5 months for a VW golf estate (or variant). Lovely car tho' well worth the wait.

    Hello

IMHO with the two dogs a 4 door would be the best option, along with some serious seat upholstery protection. The seat cloth is not the highest quality. We have the base Vibe, we don't miss the rev counter but do miss the central locking! It would be interesting to see how a 100,000 miler C1 looks (or goes). We British do seem to have a peculiar hang up about high milers, perhaps because we live in a small country. Providing the oils and filters are changed as required why shouldn't any engine go on to 1/4 million miles. These days cars get scrapped because they are not economic to repair (usually electrical issues) and not normally because the engine has given out. Even a 3 cylinder should stay the course, I ride a '73 Norton 2 cylinder and it is still going strong, as is my '59 Landie, mileage somewhere around 200,000 - it can still get to 70 mph, but only in short bursts, my teeth fall out after a minute or two. Cheers Nig
  4. Going a little off topic, apologies for that, but does anybody think there is a little less traffic on the roads at the moment ? We have certainly reduced our trips out and about, although my suggestion to wifey that I buy her a nice tartan wheeled shopping trolley met with a very frosty reception ! As consumption reduces, the theory goes that prices will come down. Will people take to the roads/skies as quickly as they did before the price hikes. Is it not a good thing that fuel prices are so high, or should they be even higher ? Now theres a controversial statement. It has certainly got people thinking about it and that is because it is hitting where it hurts most - in the wallet. (stands back and awaits the flack) Cheers Nig
  5. I can't imagine any car manufacturer accepting a warranty claim to do with engine/fuelling/electronics after such a modification not carried out in the factory/dealership. Looking at the numbers from Paulsvet it would appear he is doing well over 20,000 miles per year, I don't think there will be many C1 owners racking up that kind of mileage. In our case this would be a rather pointless mod as the car is just 1 year old and completed 3000 miles. The pay back time would be far too long. As for oil running out, well when the oil runs out, so does LPG !!! and loads of other things too. I did convert a Range Rover LSE a few years back and it ran well for 2 years then developed a misfire which was never resolved even after having cylinder head rebuilds and electrics overhauls. In the end I took the gas kit off and sold them seperately. Clearly the conversion is working for you, keep your fingers crossed it stays that way. Cheers Nig
  6. Well it still reflects ! Unfortunately the adjuster no longer moves the mirror glass, the mirror glass is pointing downwards so the driver only sees the road by the door flashing past. Went to the dealer yesterday, mine is the second one in two weeks (both 07 plates) he has seen with this prob. He reckons the cables have stretched. Personally I think the cables have come adrift. Once set we never moved the mirrors. He has ordered a new mirror. Should be here next week. Warranty job. Is this a bad batch ? Anyone else had the same issue ?

    Bikes On C1

I was going to suggest a tow bar + bike carrier, but the C1, 107 Aygo is not homologated for towing. Looks like roof bars + bike carrier is the way to go. Best for weight distribution but not so good for aerodynamics. The back window would probably fall off with anything other than the wiper attached! I don't think the hinges are built for extra weight. Cheers Nig
  8. Looks a good offer, currently the best Citroen offer/cashback comes to £6555 for the 5 door. The dealer must need to sell quite a few more cars this month to hit his target.
  9. Oh I don't know, you posh folk with top of the range cars. Least it's sorted and your ipod won't die mid trip. Cheers Nig
  10. Suggest you contact the previous owner. As you know, an ipod (or any other mp3 player) is connected via the socket located on the facia of the wireless. Why bother putting in another wire to do the same job. If you lay in the footwell can you get your hand up between the trim and feel where it goes, or even see it ? Maybe someone will tell us how to get the wireless out, there doesn't seem to be the usual slots on the facia. On another point, my favourite subject, why start another thread when you already have one running on this exact same subject. Cheers Nig
  11. I've used the roofbox company too. Bought a couple of roofbar sets over the years. Very good service quick delivery etc.

If we assume that generally speedos are about 10% optimistic, then I guess showing 110 is actually about 98/99. The Citroen quoted top speed. Why not ask a nice traffic cop to follow you just to make sure, or go through a speed camera at 110. Don't forget to let us know how you get on. Cheers Nig
  13. Or if the scratch is on the top side of the panel, you could fit a 'Sill Protector' accessory. £23 genuine Citroen have a look on the website.
  14. My point Mr Millstone, is that you do not need to start a new forum thread each time you wish to let off steam about your car, you can simply add to one of your (many) existing ones. Clearly the more people that express their experiences and issues with the car the better for others that visit in the future. Surely it is better to get an true overall picture rather than one that has been skewed by repetitive posts. No, I do not work for Citroen and I am not little, perhaps in hindsight my earlier reply to you was a little rude, but then as you say life isn't all roses and cream. But for the moment I certainly have no complaints about our little cheap car, crap it ain't. Good day, Nig

    C1

And I see you are from Essex too !
  16. Why are you starting new threads with your tale of woe, why do you hijack other threads with your tale of woe. There aren't many on this forum, I think we all get the picture. Your not happy with your motor. WE KNOW. You have aptly named yourself. Now go and sue the dealer, dump the car ...... whatever
  17. Our C1 is almost one year old, only done 3000 miles and we have the same problem. This is not the normal exhaust noise but a very tinny rattle. Give it a bit of welly and as stated before by ColinC1 the rattle goes away..............for awhile. Never thought the exhaust would be covered by warranty, let us know how you get on. I'll give it a go myself.
  18. Don't forget that whilst you do have to use Citroen parts to maintain the warranty, the work doesn't have to be done be a Citroen dealer. For a job like that, most garages will give a definite quote for the job rather than an 'estimate'. Personally I think dealers change discs far too soon, probably as a money making excercise. But this is only my opinion !!!
  19. I've just renewed my insurance for £129 fully comp with £100 cashback. £29 for a years insurance!! Amazing! So who is the insurance company ? We could all do with a bit of that action !!! Cheers Nig
  20. Hi Neuroboy, we bought ours from Stoneacre in Worksop, they let us have a 24hr test drive. Worksop isn't too far from Sheff if you don't get any joy from the city dealers. Give 'em a ring first tho', just to make sure. I'm 6ft and haven't found a problem driving the C1 - when the wife lets me drive it that is ! cheers Nig
  21. Our view is that the suspension is firm (but fair ?). The only issue we have is the racket when a stone rattles around in the wheel arch. Quite like the firm ride (ooh er mrs), quite unusual for a Citroen don't you think?

    Car Seat Covers

Bought these covers from a car accessory shop close to a supermarket whilst on holiday in France. We think they are quite a good match for the car, and offer a little more comfort. The make is Walser.
  23. Yup, 12 years in the UK too. Is Norway more moist than UK ? Its pretty damp and breezy right now.
  24. Just checked on the Citroen website, the Cool has air con. The quickest why to get rid of the mist is when you first start the car, put the air con on and make sure the recirc switch is on and the fan is at max speed. Trust me, it works. :(
  25. If you have A/C then you should set the control to recirculation as A/C dries out the air very fast. Thats why it can be a bit uncomfortable with A/C on for long periods - dry eyes etc. Cheers Nig
